Prayers for my grandfather

Usually I wouldn't ask this, but I'm really worried about my grandfather so I'm asking... please pray for him.

He fell backwards 6 or 7 feet while doing some work and landed on his shoulder. My grandmother and Dad took him to urgent care. I haven't heard anything from them yet - they are taking it slow so that he doesn't get jarred, but they think that he has a broken collarbone and possibly some broken ribs.

I know that he is probably going to be ok, but to be honest I'm really scared right now. He isn't as young as he used to be and he is hurting a lot. I just want him to be ok.

I can tell you from experience, broken ribs are extremely painful. Even breathing hurts.

I hope your grandfather is going to be ok and back with you soon.

Update: My grandfather has a broken collarbone, several broken ribs, and a partially collapsed lung.

He is going to be kept in the hospital overnight for observation. I'll probably know more tomorrow morning sometime... will keep you guys posted as I can.

My grandfather is strong, but this is the second time in 6 months he has been unwell. He was just getting better and now this...

I'd say it can't get much worse, but then I'd find out how much worse it truly can get.

I hope your Grandfather will recover fully Cindy.

Broken bones are painful, but normally not to dangerous.
I'm sure he will get by it stronger than ever.

Update: My grandfather is going to get x-rayed again sometime this morning to see if his lung has inflated or not. The rest of what I know is a more detailed explanation of how badly he is hurt. 10 of his ribs are broken - 5 in two different places, his collarbone is broken but is pretty even at the break so that is good, and one of his vertebrae is cracked on the side. He is on oxygen to try and get the lung inflated. The good news is that he doesn't seem to have any bleeding in his head. I'll know more after the x-ray is finished. I'm hoping that he can come home today... knowing him, he is probably very unhappy with being in the hospital...

I know from experience that this is a very hard time for you - frustrating because there is nothing you can do to take the pain away from your granddad and worry away from all those who love him.

You and he are in my thoughts and I will keep every finger and toe crossed on his and your behalf

All you can do is stay strong for the others - broken bones are painful but modern medicine is very good at repairs - he is in good hands professionally and has a lot of people rooting for him; if (via your mom/dad) he has have an influence in how you and Kat have turned out, then I think that he has a great deal on his side!

Thanks again for the support everyone.

Update: My grandfather is supposed to come home tomorrow!

I'd like to give him a bear hug, but under the circumstances... maybe not touching him would be best. At least he will be home! Now I need to get a big surprise ready for him...

I'm going to take the next several weeks/months one day at a time... Dad will need me to help out even more now, so I don't know what will happen. But for now, I'm not going to think about that... My grandfather will be coming home!

Great to hear.

The best surprise he could get would probably be that all the loved ones are supporting
him and show that they care. You do that already so I'm sure he's very happy knowing
he is loved;)

Well my grandfather is doing pretty good. He is frustrated and I understand why. One of his arms is in a sling so it is difficult for him to do things for himself. I think that he'd like my idea of burning the sling right now (formulated that one on the first time I had to wear one)... I'm not going to tell him that idea.

Other than that, he is just tired. He wants to stay awake, but I'm trying to convince him that sleeping will let his body heal more quickly... apparently some things he taught me actually rubbed of on me...

He gave me a message. "Thank them for their well wishes and prayers." Thank you all so very much.

I'm so thankful that I am part of this wonderful community.

My grandfather had another message for ya'll. "Ask them if they have any replacement ribs for me."

My poor grandfather kept trying to laugh yesterday. Hey, don't look at me. It wasn't my fault... well... you see... I just wanted to see him smile on the times that it could have been a little bit my fault.

Besides, he was trying to get himself laughing too... sharing jokes with us makes him laugh. After laughing though... he didn't think it was so funny.

I wish that I could take the pain I feel around him... even with the painkillers it still hurts so much.
