Keeping STEAM version up-to-date.

Hi.

This question has come about because I noticed that my STEAM version of EM decided to update today.

I had been waiting for this for a while as I had wanted to try multiplayer for the first time last week but was informed my version was 1.808 so I decided to leave it until STEAM auto-updated much like it does for every other STEAM game, just to make sure I don't mess up my install.

However, when informed of having an old version the game does direct you to the latest EM download page. Hopefully you can understand my hesitation at just downloading and installing that file as being a STEAM user you would know that you are better off letting it take care of itself to make sure you have no trouble.

I just wanted to ask Vice in particular if downloading the latest version from the downloads page and installing it to the same location will mess around with the STEAM version of the game?

It would be nice to keep up to date and not be held hostage by STEAM's patch verification process.

To answer to your question as I also bought the game on steam, you can safely update the game from Starwraith with the newest version on a steam installation.

I have downloaded and installed the 1.808 from Starwraith on the steam 1.728 version to try multiplayer. And yesterday steam autoupdated with the 1.828. No problems since.

i had the same issue with updating to 1.808.. steam wasnt auto updating so i verified the integrity of steam cache and it updated that way.
