IMG mission problem

Post by Salfer »

So I have done some of the IMG mission and now it told me to go to some hidden planet(100 sectors away I think). I couldn't find it from my initial point(tried adding and reducing) and now when I review last quest details it just says "100 sectors FROM HERE". Any idea where that planet is?

The coordinate system can seem a bit confusing, bit it's really not that hard once you got the hang of it.
Go back to where you read those instructions about the hidden planet. Check your nav map, and click 'set loc'. This sets the nav marker on your current position.
Now in one of the 'SX' boxes on the top right of your nav windows, simply add 100 sector to the value that's already there. Then click 'autopilot' and it will take you there. ;)

(Which box you have to add the value to, depends on which direction you have to go to get to the hidden planet. You can bet it's either the 'SX' or 'SZ' box.)

Good luck!

Edit: Typos! Argh! :P

I already did that, I tried both adding and decreasing 100 and I didn't find the planet.(Which is why I came here.

Are you sure you edited the values in the SX/SY/SZ boxes, and not the X/Y/Z boxes? The last give your 'in-sector' coordinates, the ones with the 'S' in front determines the coordinate of the sector itself. This is the one you need to edit.

Yes, pretty sure.
My starting point was where the previous mission ended, I set loc'd like you said and I first increased 100 sectors to sX(in 10 sector jumps) then when that didn't work I returned to the starting point and decreased 100.

For the love of me, I can't remember the Quest well enough to really help you out here. There are plenty of players who do though, so maybe they can help you further.
(I could give you the exact coordinates of the hidden planet or directions as to where to find those, but that would be a spoiler and is up to you to decide).

 You will need to do a bit of a search pattern. What I do, any time I need to search for a planet or star, is go the max distance out (in this case, 100 sectors), then drop down 10 sectors and retrace my steps. If I still haven't found the object in question, I go up 20 sectors and try again. Then down 30 and backtrack ... all the while keeping an eye on the Nav map (zoomed all the way out).
