Hi, I'm enjoying this game alot. I'm very impressed so far. I do have a small problem that I can't find a post about here. In the game options there is a 3D head tracking option to enable or disable it. When I click to enable it the game crashes straight away to the desktop. To me the head tracking would be the icing on the cake if it worked. I'm sure it's something simple but I can't figure it out.
Thanks.

Do you have a TrackIR unit?
Sorry if the question seems a bit silly but I didn't see you mentioning it.
It could be a simple case of making sure you have a relative new set of drivers installed and that you have the games list updated to add Evochron Mercenary to the supported games list.

I'm trying to use Freetrack which people are using for Evochron.
I'm sure the game should just say no compatable device detected as I have been reading on the forums. Mine is just crashing to the desktop if I click to enable it in game. I have used freetrack successfully in several different games.
I appreciate the quick response. I may try uninstalling freetrack in case that gives me some ideas. If I get any further I'll let you know.
Thanks.

Did you update the supported game list for FreeTrack to include Evochron Mercenary? Ussualy a crash to desktop without error message is a resource problem. Make sure you have no other programs running in the background. What are your Computer specs and Graphics card specs?
Oh, and hi, wellcome to the game and forum. See you out there some time.

Hi,
Thanks for your post. I didn't update the supported games list in freetrack. Don't know how to do that. One thing I tried was to uninstall freetrack and the game no longer crashes when turning on 3d head tracking. I then re installed freetrack but the game started crashing again. It crashes even if you don't load freetrack. Do you know how to update the supported games list? Maybe that would solve the problem.
I did try facetrack noir and that does work in game but I would prefer freetrack as it is a little more reliable.
My pc specs are:
Gigabyte EP41-UD3L
4GB DDR2 800 ram
Core 2 Quad Q9400
ATI Radeon HD 5770
MS Win7 64-bit
250GB HD
Thanks for the Welcome.

Starting to sound like it may not be reliable and this is more of a support issue for Freetrack. Evochron is designed to support only TrackIR natively, anything else will likely be trying to interface with the game using some proprietary/unsupported technique(s) and the results may not work reliably. I would suggest you contact them for possible solutions as it appears their software is interfering with the game to such an extent, it causes a CTD.I did try facetrack noir and that does work in game but I would prefer freetrack as it is a little more reliable.

Hi everyone,
Just an update on freetrack. Thanks Vice for your input. There are issues with freetrack as it hasn't been updated in a couple of years. I tried out facetracknoir which works really well using an interface called faketrackir. I know it's not natively supported in EM but it doesn't do a bad job.
Because of the bugs in freetrack I had to completely remove it from the pc. That was the level of conflict it was causing.
If I could afford trackir I would get that personally. Professionally made stuff generally works best.
Anyway thanks guys for your posts.
Gquann.

hello everyone
Just started with Evochron, really complex. love it. I have a lenovo laptop with camera . I installed the facetracker noir, and it seems to work ( i see my face, the lines on it, and the little picture moving around). I go to EM and click on the 3D headtracker and it tells me it cannot find any device.
I played around changing the facetracker mode. I tried the fake TrakerIR, and no success.
I installed the game with Steam, if it makes any difference. any help from anyone who got it to work?
thanks
Victor

I do not know about Facetracker noir, but in TrackIR you have to Have Evochron Mercenary in the list of games set for it to work. Maybe there is a simmilar game list in Track noir that needs to be updated with Evochron Mercenary!.....

It doesn't work, as I've tried the facetracker noir program myself, the game doesnt detect it with the 3d headtracking mode on. Had my webcam set up, tested the program, no effect during gameplay itself.
