Hi,
I've looked around the forum for solutions to my problem, but it doesn't seem like anyone else is even having the same problem, so anyway...
The game runs fine on a technical level it seems, but I have one game breaking issue. Whenever I switch from IDS to INERTIAL mode, I start accelerating rapidly "down" relative to the system I'm in. And when I say rapidly, I mean I move very fast very quickly, so fast some guys I was playing with couldn't even keep up with me. When I have IDS on, it seems as though the thrusters are having to do a fair bit of work to keep this from happening, so I burn through fuel pretty fast. I don't know if you can imagine the consequences of this bug, but it pretty much makes the game unplayable, for any reasonable definition of the word "play".
I've attempted both single player, and multiplayer by joining a friends listen server....the problem still happens to me...and only me. I've only just bought this game and I've run into this bug right off the bat.
Any ideas?

A key, button, or axis input must be returning a signal that is activating the vertical hull thrusters. Check the primary Configure Controls menu for any non-centered axis bound to the 'vertical strafe' thruster. Then check the key/button menu for activate button input for vertical thruster control. Then just clear/unbind the control mapped to it.

Sounds as if you had afterburner constantly pressed.
As I recall the joystick config screen has in one of the axis the "afterburner" tick available, maybe it has something to do with that.
