Hi Daterxies, welcome to the game and forum...Hope to see you out there some time!.....;)

I have both and finished Arvoch Aliance to the highest Rank of Fleet Admiral!
Graphics wise they are the same! But Arvoch Aliance is more military mission based and has a fixed story line to follow and no fluidic space to fly from sector to sector. All missions are sector based and you can not fly to any other sector. So you move with a set fleet from sector to sector and in each sector there is a different mission...;)

 Arvoch Alliance is Vice's latest game ... about a year younger than Mercenary. Some of the improvements seen in AA were ported into EM and, likely as not, others will be ported to the EM extension pack. Edit: Or expansion pack. Whatever. Either way, the upgrade in graphics will be worth the wait.

Arvoch is a pretty nice mission-based game with wings to command, and is an absolute blast. Mercenary is more fully-featured, and has more long-lasting appeal, but the combat is easier, since it has a broader focus.
