Game freezing in Button Config Options

My setup:
-Evochron Mercenary ver. 1.728 thru Steam
- CPU - AMD Phenom 9950 Quad Core
- Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
- 4 Gigs of Ram
- Nvidia GTX580 Driver 285.62

I just purchased the game yesterday, and the game plays fine with Keyboard and Mouse. I am attempting to hook up my Logitech G940 Flight setup (Profiler and drivers are current) and have been having some issues. The game appears to see the controller setup fine, and I was able to configure the axises. I then attempted to use the in-game configuration to keybind the buttons and hats. I found that I was unable to set anything to the hats on the throttle or joystick (Such as thrusters, or targeting keybindings). I then created a profile for the game using the logitech profiler, which allowed me to emulate keyboard commands. I then went back into the game and attempted to clear the default button configuration the game had assigned to the G940, in order to prevent the game and the profiler from contradicting each other. When I select a command (Ex. Afterburners) and then use the middle clear button in order to clear the joystick config the game freezes on me. I have tried running the game in XP service pack 3 compatability mode, and have also tried allowing the exe to run in admin mode. So far I have been unable to find a resolution. I attempted to see if I could manually edit the keybinding configuration through any of the files in the C:/sw3dg/EvochronMercenary/ directory, but all the files are either encoded or just random numbers, and the .cfg file doesn't appear to contain the keybindings. I am really looking forward to playing, as I am a huge space flight sim fan, and have so far loved the way the game has been done through my short time playing with the keyboard and mouse. Any help or suggestions anyone could provide would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Hmm, not sure what might be happening there. What I'd suggest at this point is backing up the keymap8.sw file in that folder, then remove or rename it. Relaunch the game and let it rebuild the file using default values, then try your button mapping/clearing again.
