LOL...Marv...No the Crystal is not Photoshop. I really jumped and traversed that distance in 10 seconds. I could have choosen coordinates SX 999999, SY 999999, SZ 999999. But I wanted to try it out closer to where Dave was just in Case I needed some major rescue since I did not have any constructors with me just a spare crystal. The crystal is unique in its properties required and must be cut and shaped in a special shape, form and angles......And this is another one of those secrets that is a sworn oath to keep. The crystal came out of the box thinking just like Landing on Earth and you can create many of the crystals using nanites once you know the secret. So luckely I brought a spare and was able to get back after my first experiment!....

You could try for 300 001 before my next experimental jump!...Oh wait you are at SX 250 100, SY 0, SZ -2500.! And I was at SX 300 001, SY 0, SZ -300 000. So you would only break the record for the SX portion!

9999 9999 9999 is where the servers are located and R1 and USS live. I put a coffee shop one sector away in R1 for visitors so they don't disturb RemulaFrom post: 122811, Topic: tid=8181, author=Maarschalk wrote:I think that is at SX 9999, SY 9999, SZ 9999, the Gorf joint that is!......From post: 122809, Topic: tid=8181, author=Marvin wrote:From post: 122798, Topic: tid=8181, author=Maarschalk wrote:I could have choosen coordinates SX 999999, SY 999999, SZ 999999.I think there's a Gorfburger at those coordinates.

Yep - If you do the calculation, given that the diagonal of a square with unit sides is (nearly) 1.4 then the the diagonal to the opposite corners of a unit cube works out at 1.72From post: 122806, Topic: tid=8181, author=Maarschalk wrote:You could try for 300 001 before my next experimental jump!...Oh wait you are at SX 250 100, SY 0, SZ -2500.! .........:P:P:P:P:P
So, to get further away from Sapphire @ 0 0 0 I would have to reach sX = 516 140. (300 000 x 1.72)
Basically if people have to compete with the souped up Mantis Drive then your record is unbeatable; the slow way to 250 000 took me (in real time) 208 hours (around 9 days). It actually took longer with fairly regular disconnects when creating a refuelling station and the fact that I couldn't be there for the end of every refuel and fly sequence.
To match your present position with respect to 000 would obviously take another 9 days non-stop - life is too short! That along with the fact that in 10 seconds you could then whizz out to 400 000 or even 999 999, which would require me to reach sX = 1 720 000. Simply to match you would take 60 days flying non-stop in real time.
Therefore I can only concede the distance record to you in perpetuity.
In some ways I wish that I had known the ability to go anywhere in 10 seconds was actually possible - everyone believed that the Mantis was the upper limit; still I did it the way everyone else will have to do it so I guess all was not a complete waste of time and effort

Going North from Andromeda was going to be my next project. From post: 122825, Topic: tid=8181, author=Marvin wrote:It might be a bit quicker if you start your trip from Andromeda.
It would save about 19 hours; instead of 60 days it would take 59 days - life is still too short!

Next time I'll jump I'll go for 999999, 999999, 999999 and report if this is the end of the Universe! if not then I'll jump to 9999999, 9999999, 9999999.....etc....Now I got curious where the end lies if there is one other wise the end is just a lie!.......

I'm interested to see what you find. Can you programme the NavMap with 7 digits?

A desription of the ghost planet you see would help determine if they change or not. The Erato one did. Some of the others changed place relative to my ship.
