High School Drama, Im Done With It

I rarely ever share anything as personal as this, but this community has helped me so much, giving me wisdom and advice. I recently had a disagreement with another student, and he wanted to fight, street fight. I at first accepted it, but then I realized how stupid it was to want to fight over just simple words. I know I will get crap from my High School, being called a coward, p****y, etc. But they never cared about me before and they will never, neither will I. I'm going to move on with my life and do what is right. There are greater things to fight over, and if I'm jumped I won't fight back, I laugh in fact, for if they have nothing better to do then haze me then they are truly a sad bunch of souls, as usual they will be in packs, and their going to call me a coward. I've been tortured most of my life anyway, by my fellow youth. I realize why they are the way the are. Most guys my age don't have father figures, they get corrupted at a young age by Heroine, Cocaine, Weed, etc. I feel sorry for them actually, they live in a gray twilight that knows neither what real love is nor know of morals. Sure I have friends, but over the years only a certain few have sticked to my side, and I will truly know who my real friends are this time around. I want to thank this community to being one of the kindest I have been apart, mostly because most of you are mature grown up adults. You guys have helped in part with my maturity, thanks I will never take for granted what you strangers have done in just little that makes up for actually a lot of transformation in myself. You guys know who you are

Hi Mate.

You are truly a mature person if you chose to not fight!

I agree that some fights are worth fighting, but most are not!
Most disagreement are solved with the mouth. (IMHO).

But I would take any fight regarding my own family to the death and I have no
doubt that you would as well.

One pick their fight and ignore (if possible) the rest.

YOU set the course of YOUR life. No one else does.

I understand that you have some difficulties and if I can do anything to help,
don't hesitate to ask mate.

I to have gotten some really great friends through this game/community and have learned a lot
from it.

I'm in your "corner" any day mate!

You made the right choice to not fight. Fighting now could keep you from getting a very nice job one day, nice life, and so on.
And, your friends will not call you a coward or anything.

Also, believe it or not, if you let people know why you don't want to fight, girls will line up to get with you lol

Some of The Greatest and Bravest Men Never faught a fight other then to defend themselfs and their loved ones only under and when subjected to uninmaginable injustice! And even then they showed unbelievable restraint and were tortured, crucified, beheaded, poisoned, put in chains and feathers, imprisoned and rediculed...etc....just for mentioning their beliefs......

You have my respect for a very uncowardly, but very mature decision.

You are choosing your path in life - they are drifting along in their's. And their's is onviously one you don't want to tread. A small consolation but remember that when you have movee onwards and upwards they will still be scrabbling around in their own mire.

High school isn't the world. Most jocks end up selling shoes. The tough guys end up in jail. The only good part is seeing it all in your rearview mirror on graduation day.

I've been where you are now Mecingo. I think it takes a real adult to make the choice you made.
Fighting other than to defend yourself, your family and others who can't defend themselves are the only reasons to fight.
The easiest way to lose a fight is to go into it knowing you are wrong.

I'd like to share a couple of lines from something I wrote in hopes that it brings you courage in your convictions to be the man you are.
Some will love me,
Some will hate me,
Most won't know me,
Or ever even care.
But that's O.K.
'Cause I can find my way,
Back home from almost anywhere.

I wrote that when I was in times much like you are in now. Stay strong and don't forget, there are many who would rather live with you than fight against you.

P.S. If you do get jumped, it really might be O.K. to fight back.
Remember even a simple fight can be life theatening, and an in unwarranted attack that you made every effort to avoid, you have full right to defend yourself.

Thanks all, and yes I could get in a lot of trouble for fighting a minor in fact. He is 17 I am 18, and even if he attacks me at school, I will not fight back, all probably get all bloody but I can heal, an felony will be a permanent scar on my life.

Like Rubber Chicken, I've also been where you are now. I have found myself in the same situation many times and I know how hard it is to make the choice you made at that moment. The right thing to do is also often the hardest one. Remember that people like them will end up nowhere. You will only really realize that when you have achieved the things you want in life and think back to moments like these in what is then your past.
Making the decision you made, and telling about it as openly and honestly as you did, says a lot about the man you are and will become. Take pride in the fact that at the age of 18, you already have the wisdom to think about the consequences of your actions in the heat of the moment, while all they can do is care about their ego with no sense of responsibility what so ever. You are definitely the bigger man here.
You have my respect for what you did and keep in mind that you set the course of your life by the decisions that you make each day, not they or the things they do.

My hat's off to you mate.

One of my older friends got into a fight when they were in high school and 20 years later it cost them a 7 figure job.

Just because you win today, doesn't mean you will win tomorrow.

Good luck. As a recent grad I advice you to go to a community college then move on to whatever university. 1 it will save you a lot of money and time. And 2, if something happens 2 years of your 4 years, at least you will have a AA or AS with the community college

I agree. Junior College. It's not a social group. You work up a schedule, go to class ... and that's it. The rest or your time is your own.

My encounter with him today actually went rather well, he kept a good distance away from me and I did my own thing. Been called names and stuff but it was rather revealing that I was not showing any signs of fear and what not. Only 4 days left now XD lol I want to get on with my life.

Awesome Mecingo! Very awesome! Graduating High School early - or simply graduating - is PROOF that you didn't have to lift a finger to have these guys beat! All you had to do was be yourself! Great job at commanding your destiny and not getting sucked in! I'm sure I can speak for all in the EM community and say we are VERY PROUD of you!:)

keep this in mind, and it will help keep things easy.

Everybody has a "peak" of when they achive the maximum intelegence they are capable of.
I've noticed over time, that alot of highschool morons/jocks/druggies/hippies, etc all peak around grade 10. to make up for it, they like to work out, protest things they don't understand, and pick on others to establish dominance.

just you watch. they feel they are on top of the world right now, but if you monitor them for a few years after highschool, their lives will ultimately fail.

I never went through bullying in highschool (mostly cause i was that goth type guy that everyone is afraid is gunna kill them, even though its far from the truth

) , but I did go through it at yonger ages. people will either suck it up and grow up (not as many do this, I'm affraid), or they will spiral downwards into a horrible, short life. it sound's mean, but it's satifying to watch the people who bullied you so often, ruin their own lives.

as well, a big thing with highschool kiddies, is that they think they are huge gang members, and are above the police. if any of em try to follow you home, threaten you in any way, do not go to the school about it. go right to the police. the school will not help you. as it happens, cops have a soft spot for bully victims I've found (at least they do here, in canada). don't worry about ruining the person's life. they did that to themselves.

things WILL get better by the way. it doesn't always seem like it, but they will. when u finish highschool, you will probably notice that all of the moron neanderthals never made it to college, whereas you probably will.

that all said,
if you get any chance to royally screw them over (non violently, of course), do it. they would do it to you.

I have to diagree with d3drocks on some of his points.

"Monitoring" a bully's progress in life is a sure way of torturing yourself over a past you cannot let go of.
Delighting in another's misfortunes in life can only amplify your own misery.

Many people who bullied me have achieved thier own success in life and are actually wiser more humble people now that they have grown up. I've actually had some very good conversations with them after meeting them years later.

Screwing people over who are enemies you can separate yourself from - or screwing over anybody for that matter - can only achieve you lowering yourself to an unhealthy level.

Keep in mind that I am saying this from the perspective of someone who was HEAVILY bullied in school.
The only choice for social interaction that I had at the time was to hang out with the people who bullied me LESS.

Mecingo - Graduate, and go on with your life. Look forward. Choose carefully when to review the past. And all that weighs you down right now will only make you stronger as those weights fall away.

I know how you feel, I was bullied a lot in middle school and some in high school. At least until I managed to fade into the background.

Forget them, it's not easy for sure. But once you make it through you'll be the better one for it. Go on with your life, set your goals, and change the world. At least in your own way.

As for me I graduated in 2005, most of the bullies I knew ended up dropping out. I spent a few years working then finally set my plan. Now I'm in college prepping for a permanent move to Japan in about two years. Once I'm there I'll be teaching ESL for a while before starting my own business. I have a plan and a way to achieve it. Life has never been better.

High school is pretty much the only time in your life when you're unwillingly forced to socially interact with certain kinds of people you have absolutely nothing in common with and who, for most of the rest of your life, you will never be around anymore (at least not for extended periods of time). Yes there's college and university too but there already you're focusing on a specific field of study which already means you're more bound to be amongst like-minded people.
