I would like to see something like a tracer missile, or dart, or whatever, that would you allow to track the target for a certain amount of time. Such as when they send a ping on the nav map.

It would be really cool if you could fire it while your stealth generator was active. That would REALLY make things interesting.

A small change but for deep space explorers a very useful one:

a reserve fuel cut off for the auto pilot so that when I have 30+ minutes of flying I can leave the autopilot to get on with it and potter and have a coffee and not find I've run out of fuel, can build a station, but can't fly the last few metres to get into it! At the moment I'm flying outwards to see if the universe loops, (EDIT: not exploring the toilets of the universe!!) ends or continues "for ever". It takes about 25 minutes per tankful before I have to construct a station to refuel.

Have a cutoff got the autopilot when the fuel level reaches say, 25 units

please :D

 As you go along your merry way, keep checking the Nav map for changes in system names and the News for other changes. If any of them display names or information for star systems or planets located far in the opposite direction, you have your answer.

You already get the warning when your fuel level drops below a hundred that means you have only 9 more jumps with a mantis jumpdrive. I suggest turn your speakers up and have speakers all over the house, in the shower and the bathrooms and listen for "Warning, fuel level low".........You can always change the sound file with a fire alarm sound file......;):P:P:P:P:P:P:P

I fear neither the neighbours nor my wife would be impressed!

Anyway, my hearing is not what it was when I was a "Spring Chicken" :D

Anyway, as I said - small change with a big impact for a special sort of exploring, to stop us having to be chained to the cockpit :)

I would also like the thrusters on very agile frames to be more reactive. On inertial they still seem a little sluggish to me. I admit that that this probably a view not shared by too many. But still...
I second this. To me, it *feels* like the lighter more agile frames don't seem to have any sort of real maneuvering advantage over heavier, better armored frames. Could just be my lack of piloting skills though... :)

Another 'wish list' item would be the ability to hanger a ship, equipment and all (no crew of course) so it's available as a turn-key ride.

:)

What would be totally cool would be the ability to leave your ship and explore areas/planets on foot or other vehicle...it would introduce a whole new level to the game...how about exploring those villages and getting out of the way of the stampeding wildlife while searching for information on that lost planet?

hmmm???;)

You can already do that...land your ship, turn the game off and play EverQuest.:P

These have probably already been mentioned but this topic is already 20 pages long by the time I got here...

1. A variety of cockpits for the ship frames. Maybe not as PART of the frames, but more as interchangeable modules you can purchase. Each cockpit could have its own attributes. Ie: Cockpit type "x" could add 50 to your particle cannon range, but your MDTS becomes 5% less accurate. Attributes could also be assigned to civilian activities associated to the game.

2. I would like to see a wider range of motion with the pan function inside the cockpit. Something like Il2 Sturmovick or a comparable game.

3. A slightly larger radar panel. A little extra size to add clarity couldn't hurt.

4. If you have a joystick, ability to mouse click functions on the dashboard panels would be nice.

5. Ability to magnify view +/- a little bit would be cool.

6. I want a Hula girl bobble figurine for my dashboard! :)

That's all I can think of for now, will definitely post if I've got anything else. ;)

Woof Vice..... Being that you're a Mech fan; have you ever thought of adding mech missions as a part of planet missions available? ( Just a thought.) :)

1. Cindy finds it cruel that her new paintjob gets a scratch after you attack her cause she blew up one of your stations!.:P
2. You can always roast and barbecue your fresh road kill before putting it on your dashboard and enjoy the aromas, so you can have a meal while you drive!:P
3. This one I argue that there are many chickens in space running around and many without heads....:P
3. This actually supose to be 4. but not to confuse you I kept it at 3. And you seriously need to get some wheels for your Chim to make it an all purpose vehicle, you can get a good deal at NTB..:P

1. As I surf the forum I am becoming aware of these mods, many of which are really cool. I would however, like to see varied cockpits as part of the standard game. The cockpit as a module you could buy, would allow you to tranfer the design you like best to any frame you choose. The "properties" - if balanced well- would IMO add an extra element of things to consider when customizing your frame without being overbearing. Keep the assembly cost low, tweek the frame points a little, and offer the "classic" cockpit standard for 0 credits and 0 points, but have no props for it. Admittedly I still haven't thought of how to compensate for assembly points added to the frames if the "classic" is used. It could be argued that extra frame points would allow for higher class components chosen over what was originally intended for the frame if the standard cockpit is chosen. Which might be considered more or less allowing the player to choose an extra property of sorts for 0 cost. I can also see that rebalancing all component assembly costs might be a pain for the creator. Please bear with me, I'm making this up as I go along;) I think if a solution was found that didn't require to much work, it would be really cool though.

2. What I meant by "more range of motion" is extend the view to allow for the space between the 90 degree left/right/up and the back firewall of the cockpit that is not currently offered. A few extra degrees of view and being able to see the edge of said firewall would IMO add to the already strong 3D sense of the cockpit. It would also make the ability to orient yourself with padlocked targets behind you a little easier. Basically simulating moving your virtual torso a bit to get a better view of what's over your shoulder.
I understand that your "strapped in" to your virtual seat, but why can't the restraint device allow for some play - like a modern day seatbelt does? (Without it locking up an choking the crap out of you like they sometime do - of course):)

3. Glad you agree about the radar. :)

4. I mean the info panels on the dasboard. Some people might find it easier to target subsystems, select primary and secondary weapons, adjust IDS scale, and S/W power ratio by pointing and clicking the area rather than taking your eyes off of the screen to find the keys for them during heavy combat. I use the touchpad on my laptop for mouse functions with my left while using the joystick with my right.
A lefty mouse setup could also be used.

5. I'm not asking for a "I can see it from here, so there's no need to investigate further" type of magnification. I'm asking for a "yep, that IS an unknown object I thought I saw off my port side. Better decide NOW if I want to spend the fuel to break my 6000k Inertial cruise to go check it out" kind.

6. ATTENTION ALL: As I have yet to find a planet that serves as a prison colony for stand-up comics (which there darn well should be...), I do not, repeat DO NOT carry RUBBER CHICKENS in my cargo hold. (Smuggling Contraband is against my policy anyway!):P Successfully bouncing me WILL NOT result in gaining a souvenir for your time and trouble. :(

I am however working on a device that will change your missle lock tone to obscene bodily noises while temporarily jamming your targeting system! :o :P ;)

Oh, and BTW, how do I quote only a portion of a post instead of quoting the whole thing?

I have always been strongly against this. If you have frag counts players will naturally try to get the most frags, to be 'better' than the other players. In that way frags tend to inflate most players' egos no matter the nature of the community, which sooner or later results in extremely annoying and nonconstructive discussions on the forum board, creating a nasty atmosphere.

Some players will say that this will not happen in this community, but all the communities I have been a member of that introduced frags have suffered the exact same faith.

I think playing the game should be about having fun at it, not about being the best. Most people their daily jobs involve performing better than others in some way. It is nice to escape that once and a while and play a game without that sort of pressure.

Just my 2 cents.

Believe me, that WOULD happen here. No doubt about it. And after your post, I rescind my support of the original proposition of frag counts. That support came from the idea that people wouldn't be able to lie about kills as well with one. But now I see that having one would be worse.
