Hi, I don't know why, but my computer will no longer run Evochron Mercenary version 1.588. It has a error message that reads 'Runtime Error 7018 - Could not load 3D object at line 65340'.
My computers specifications are as follows.
OS Name: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
System Model: Inspiron N5010
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU
Installed Psychical Memory: 4.0 GB
Available Psychical Memory: 2.25 GB
I turned most of my background programs and my anti-spyware program off, but it still gave me the error message. I also tried turning all the settings down to 'Low' or 'Off' for in the game. I don't know what else to do, any ideas?
Thanks,
~Cindy

What do you use for anti-virus/spyware? Sometimes when you turn them off, their residual programs and/or alterations to the system remain behind. It's possible one of those or another security program has updated and is now blocking memory/resources the game needs. That is, if you haven't changed any settings on your system or installed anything else recently.

I use PC Tools Spyware Doctor. I did change some settings to my computer recently, but after I made the changes EM ran even faster until now. I haven't installed anything since about a week ago - other than uninstalling and re-installing the game last night.

Is there a reason you use SD as opposed to something else? Try these steps if you want to:
- Restart the computer completely. Let it sit there for a few minutes after your desktop comes up until the hard drive light stops blinking. Then try launching and testing the game. If it persists, try the next step.
- Uninstall Spyware Doctor entirely in the add/remove programs menu (install something else in the meantime for protection as needed), repeat the first step and test for changes.
- If nothing changes, restore the system back to the way it was or if it works, please post the results.

OK, now I feel so stupid. I had turned the automatic updates for Windows 7 off because it was using up so much memory. I uninstalled Spyware Doctor, tried a different anti-virus system, then re-installed Spyware Doctor since the other one had no better results. I then restored my system and the automatic updates came back on and I just needed to update a driver. So now I have another solution wrote down just in case this happens again.
Thank you for the ideas Vice. Sorry to have had a problem posted when I just forgot to update my computer.

Glad you got it fixed. It's good to check on such things, sometimes a new problem is introduced by an update to an unrelated program and having it reported helps determine what it might be.
