I like the idea of comunication chat from capital ships on a escort mission or even with stations. not so much changing the game...just for added effect....

Thank you very much for the help (and your infinite patience, lol) last night Dave, I have learned a lot.
Which brings me to something I'd like to add to my criticism about the coordinate system (if this is the place for it):
If we could just have the closest general area listed next to the coordinates in the player list as it is now, that would already be a great help for (unexperienced) players to deal with the coordinates. Even though I have gotten better in it, I still find it impossible to determine which system a certain player is in, by just looking at the coordinates in front of his name.
Example: when you now have '-5000.100.2500 Viper' you would have '[Emerald] '-5000.100.2500 Viper'.
In the example, Emerald would be the system closest to Viper's current location. This way you could retain the coordinate system while adding a lot of usability to it, especially for new players.

Another one:
A 'Turret view' or '360 Camera View' view option. This view would would put you outside your ship very close to it, while facing it. You would be able to turn the camera in all directions around the ship (capturing whatever is behind the ship from the camera's point of view), keeping the ship in view without moving the ship itself.
This would prove extremely useful for shooting in game video's and snapshots. But admittedly, I couldn't think of another use for it except maybe aid in situational awareness.

Well, actually i need a "cinematographic" camera mode.
For example: when i switch into that mode, i control position of camera with "WASD" buttons and rotate camera view with a mouse.
I am working at some videos now, but it is so difficult to control vanilla outside camera ( zoom and rotate to slow, and i cannot control camera position )
It would be a great if this feature will be included. Thanks.

Yes, as do I. However, you cannot circle the camera view around the ship and leave the ship on course in these views. You can turn around in circles, but what you're actually doing is turning the ship while the camera perspective remains the same. From post: 117120, Topic: tid=7616, author=Marvin wrote:Press V ... then press V again. You are now looking at your ship in 3rd person view. I have my HAT set so that I can pan around while in this mode.
Press V one more time and you're looking at whatever other ship you have targeted in your HUD. You can cycle through the targets and get 3rd person views of each ship within radar range. People who take screenshots use this mode a lot.
A 'turret' view like described will do the opposite: pan around the ship, giving you a 360 degrees look of the ship and background, while not moving the ship itself. This is a notable difference.
So in short:
The views as we have them now move the ship; while a 'turret' view would move the camera, not the ship.

Yes. But camera rotates to slow and as i said also cannot be moved. From post: 117120, Topic: tid=7616, author=Marvin wrote:Press V ... then press V again. You are now looking at your ship in 3rd person view. I have my HAT set so that I can pan around while in this mode.

One of the best examples: "Spectator" mode in Counter-Strike game lol, you can fly whatever you like and look whatever you like.

All those angles were taken via the HAT, without moving or turning the ship. And note that the ship continues to point at the carrier. But, no, there is no spy camera mode. Maybe if Vice added another piece of equipment ... a spy satellite you could use via remote control.

If the control device you use doesn't have HAT contro, you can also alternately use the Insert, Home, Page Up, and End keys to pan around a ship in either the external player ship view mode or the target view mode. You can also use the Delete and Page Down keys to zoom in and out on the ship.

I'll chime in again with a couple of wish-list items:
A means by which to toggle mounted equipment on/off (auto CM launcher for example)
And one more time...
--> analog main engine control while flying inertial.
Oh, and in your spare time... How about some self-canceling turn indicators...
Thanks Vice!

I would love the first - especially for equipment that needs care when using itFrom post: 117147, Topic: tid=7616, author=Galaxian wrote:I'll chime in again with a couple of wish-list items:

Is number two the same as the "Inertial Forwards" and "Inertial Reverse" that we already have (It's mapped to < and >)?
As for the indicators, I got mine from a local car kit shop

Something else I wasn't aware of. I'm thinking more along the lines of keeping throttle control on the throttle axis while flying inertial. We have analog X/Y axis thruster contol already and I think it'd be swell to have analog main engine control rather have to use afterburner or toggle Z axis thusters on/off.From post: 117175, Topic: tid=7616, author=DaveK wrote:I would love the first - especially for equipment that needs care when using itFrom post: 117147, Topic: tid=7616, author=Galaxian wrote:I'll chime in again with a couple of wish-list items:

Don't if that's feasible within the game engine.

Would also be cool if there were a way to have a 'secure' comms channel in-game like the clanners have. Maybe a tag like "<yourgrouphere>callsign" that is discrete and won't jam up clan stats and the like.

I completely agree with Galaxian on the secure com.
Also, we need a smiley with Dingo ears on the forum.

We have lots of loot and the prestige to the first pilot to successfully land on Earth...I would love to see Vice add a special reward only found on Earth.
Mmmm... I'm thinking maybe a special kind of ship... like a bad *%$, one of a kind, Fighter that would make you the envy of all the clans.
But, there would be only one place you could get it...Earth...And believe me if you make it, not only do you deserve it, I have no doubt you could afford it with your new found wealth.
This craft would cost you... let's say...1 Billion credits. The Earth Military and Security forces would consider you a special breed of warrior...deserving of their most trusted and special Space craft.

I like Knight Rider's idea up there.
I would also like the thrusters on very agile frames to be more reactive. On inertial they still seem a little sluggish to me. I admit that that this probably a view not shared by too many. But still...

Perhaps some type of inertial thrust tuning feature to compliment the ship design feature?
