That's an interesting statement. Reminds me of the
Alcubierre drive theory (basically the Warp Drive from Star Trek), although its workings rely more on compressing and expanding space-time rather than on bending it between two points.
Nonetheless a striking statement to make. Bending space-time has been a much discussed theory as an alternative to propulsion-based technologies for relative FTL space travel. It might just be the way to navigate the vastness of space in the future. The way I see it, burning fuel will never produce speeds great enough to really get anywhere in space. Mind you, even if we were to travel relatively faster than the speed of light, it would still take thousands of years to reach even the other side of our galaxy. So I think we should think outside the box, which would make the theory of bending space-time in order to travel from one point in space to another a very viable theory, and a logical successor to our rather primitive technology of burning fuel, which we have been using for too long now and which has (curiously!) not really evolved in the many decades it has been in use.
What strikes me most about all this though is the fact that a scientific discovery of this magnitude is mentioned in the mainstream media in the first place (although the attention given to it is far from what one would expect really). You would think that they would want to keep it a secret for the time being, as they have done with so many other discoveries in the past (probably to gain a technological advantage over certain other nations).
Which in turn brings me back to what I mentioned earlier, the fact that some things are only released to the public after they have been picked apart sufficiently and used extensively for several decades... Which, if that is the case, means that the technology of bending space-time was mastered many years ago and has been in use for just as long without us knowing about it.
Arr, I love speculating lol.
