There are already special missiles to disarm shields, bust engines or other systems.
Stealth is also already in the game in 2 variations.

On MP, players can either choose a Vonari ship or Human ship and battle out on pvp. The Vonari Clan probably like to use Vonari ships and not get shot at by Vonari AIs.

What would be cool is if we could PM one another in game and send one another money or things when the other person isn't online.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but, I would like to see more communications from the planets, permission to land, or some kind of interaction from planet side.

The game environment is rather passive, like it is now. For example the radio chatter: It's only noise that comes from the speakers, cause you cannot understand what other pilots are talking about.
There should be a lot more possibilities the environment itself interacts with the player. The trade requests are already there, but I don't notice them very much. They do not appear very frequently (at least to me/my playstyle) and if, the items offered are mostly some useless stuff (meds, water, metal). I didn't get one trade request by now where I would have said: That's what I've been searching for. And many trade requests can't be opened cause I'm flying out of range 3 sec later.
What about offering some useful stuff (coordinates of containers, planets, systems etc. or stuff like weapons, missilies?).
Some other environment-player interactions could be:
- small "off-station" contract offers (flying a patrol, escort ships, ...)
- other pilots which try to rob the player if there's valuable cargo onboard
- radio chatter (which you can understand) adapted to the actions of other ships (like "flying to station xy", "requesting to dock", "transporting commodity x to planet xy", etc.)
- patrols that inspect the cargo of the player if flying nearby (let me request smuggling here again
All of this could make the whole game world more living and breathing. This is one of the things I still miss in EM.

+1 on Leadcommando and KnightRider's ideas.
Would really love to see the world feeling more alive like that, and I love the smuggling idea. It could work really well in this kind of game.

I want... a bar.
I know, I know, quit giving me that look! Here's what I propose.
Now, in the previously mentioned Escape Velocity Nova game, you could click on the 'bar' tab once in a station (maybe place it under the 'news' tab?) and it would bring up random rumors, flavor text, and things of that nature. You could ALSO pick up random missions from there, much like beacons in Mercenary. As well as hiring other pilots and watching the news. I think if we centralized the wingman hiring process, flavor text, and missions, it could do wonders!
Better yet, make it so when you enter the station itself, put the bar in there.
As for the 'flavor-text' throw in things about the war, and different bits of info on things around the 'verse'
In regards to the missions, I think it would be very cool to have a sort of text pop-up describing things, much like EV nova, with a little story like so:
As you enter the bar you notice the locals are crowded around a vid-screen in the center of the room. After ordering your drink, you peek over and find the telecaster is talking about the war in Onyx. Apparently a mining corporation attacked a pirate group in retaliation for last week's attacks. You watch with interest, and notice a figure staring at you. A young woman with her hand on a blaster and a rather fierce look about her. She motions you over, and offers a drink. "My name is Illia Mankavar, and I represent the Independent Miner's Association. I can't help but notice your interest in the Onyx system. Say, do you pilot a ship? I could use a few pilots for a mission.
^
Like so. Then, you can choose yes or no, and that kind of thing. I know it seems a rip-off from Escape velocity, but I REALLY liked the flavor that added to the game. Basically I want something that makes the universe feel more alive. Even if its just randomized responses whenver you contact an NPC pilot.

That "bar" idea is very nice. The entire Evochron world definitely needs more fluff.
Currently, the quest system is a bit too limited, both in presentation and variety.

I would like to see some more variation in the heavy civilian frames, different options might be nice too, like a bigger real freighter like craft, or maybe more like a midget freighter with some movement and point defense turrets instead of foreward firing weapons for the real traders in the game.
Then asking players for an escort online or having to hire escorts offline would add to the immersion.
Right now only 2 classes of the civilian line are being used, the Starmaster and the Mammoth, even though the Leviathan looks really cool it's purpose is missed due to the severe loss of agility (25) and having less armor then a Starmaster doesn't help either.
If a ship like a Leviathan would have point defense turrets instead of foreward firing weapons and a bigger cargo hold like 10 bays instead of 5 it would have a purpose again to the traders out there.
Edit: Forgot to mention the miners would like the extra storage space as well.

I agree with Avenger. Civ ships with 10 (or even 15) cargo bays plus perhaps a higher class of (more expensive) shields suitable for the larger frames plus turrets that track and fire on hostiles would compensate for their lower agility and speed and wouldn't compete with the advantages bestowed upon the mil frames in ther last revision of capabilities. They would create a new career opportunity in Evochron
Perhaps there could be a special class of contract to suit them - deliver 12 cargo bays of goods to xxx; for Mercs it could be escort a particular freighter from system X to system y

Personally I would like to see a deploy-able gate, that can teleport anyone almost any where at least in a 5000 by 5000 sector region. Would take a long time to deploy though, and would cost a good amount of money. It could help with needing to get somewhere to help someone say in a bind against some hostiles.
Also another thing, a option that allows you to close the game while traveling to another system, so one can watch movies or something along the ride. And when you reach your destination, a ring will be played to tell you that you are at your destination.

A deployable gate would be good - disappearing after you use it (since you've left the sector) so it wouldn't lead to clutter and make the game into a go anywhere at anytime sort.

Ya, the gate building cannot be permanent or else R1 will be one giant mess within a few weeks, 100% sure about that.
I am still for a horrible expensive equipment piece like in Starlancer where you can open a mini wormhole, and fly the ship through, easy, no clutter and it can make gameplay interesting.
Maybe a good idea will be manual coordinate plotting to make it more of a challenge to use one and for pilots to start using notebooks to store safe coordinates for future use.
Another idea is to make the item a little exclusive and that you can only fit it in a heavy civil class ship.

I find EM too hard and sometimes very tedious. I keep coming back to the game but the reputation system and combat difficulty are just too much for me.
Please, oh please can we have Easy Difficulty in EM? A little bit easier combat (no, I don't want to be supergod that destroys planets with one shot) and easier reputation system - doing the same contracts for days/weeks and not being able to leave the system = not fun.
Another thing - hangar operations. Actually this was why I stopped playing EM recently. I was trying to swap my ships and lost half of the systems/weapons because I didn't do some 'hocus pocus' to prevent them from disappearing. Come on!
Also on easy setting could hostile ships have some kind of dead zone/radius? I mean as soon as they appear 8K miles away they go after me. I'd like them to leave me alone at that distance. Let's say, I come closer - maybe 2K - and they engage, I stay well away, they just ignore me.
I'm not complaining. I really want to come back to EM, I think it could be the greatest spacesim out there, but without easier gameplay and good hangar handling I probably won't bother.
I think EM should be enjoyed by a wider range of players and not only (or mostly) hardcore reputation grinders and explorers.

Hardcore reputation grinders?
Days/weeks to change a reputation?
I am sorry but it doesn't take that long to change a systems reputation, and I know because I have changed a lot of systems to Good reputation.
Even severe hostile systems like Sierra and Pearl, takes a couple of hours max.
Once a system reputation is Fair it's safe enough to opperate without any serious problems and changing a system from Fair to Good is a piece of cake.
The combat is not extremely difficult either, once you see the limitations of the AI and use that as the base tactics to defeat them you will see how easy combat in EM is.
Feel free to pop in on Remula One and we will happy to teach you some combat tactics.

It is easy for you, I can't argue with that. I'm a terrible player but still want to enjoy the game.
I don't use multiplayer. To change rep I have to take missions like cleanning solar array, delivering cargos, finding lost stuff, fighting MAX 4 ships at once (my wingmen suck at fighting so I'm basically on my own anyway) - it takes ages to change from fair to good.
After completing one contract the rep goes 1% up if I'm lucky.

Again, I suggest you join MP. You don 't have to worry about fighting other players. You will find a small but helpful community that will share tips and suggestions and help you to better understand and enjoy the game.
Most of the problems you mention, we have all done at one time or other.
I look forward to seeing you there.

Hi gietek.
I can understand your frustration and I also respect that people don't play MP.
This is the first game I joined MP and I don't regret it.
My suggestion is that you, as stated above, join MP and learn from more experienced pilots.
I learned a lot and still do out there.
Then drop back to SP and try out your new skills.
Many pilots will be happy to teach you what they know.
Hope to see you out there.

Hi gietek, I agree fully with MMaggio and SeeJay - I avoided MP until I thought that I was "good" enough. I'm still not, but having spent just a couple of seessions there, I wish I'd joined much much sooner!
People are friendly, very helpful, tolerant of newbies and it's great fun (and not just the combat!)
Oasis has a rep for bouncing newbies, but it's just her way of saying hello and only happens once. Last night BA (Bossk and Dengar) agreed to help in combat practice against Vonari and didn't eat us newbies even once! I even manged to bag a couple (out of a dozen or more battles) and survived (mainly because I need practice in staying in the battle area)
Give it a try at least - if you don't like it then you can go back to SP until you feel happier
