Hello all, I have been playing a 2d space combat trade game for last 6 years pretty intense and am looking for something new and exciting.
I just bought the game and a new gaming machine especially for games like this.
I downloaded the game and am coming up with the following error.
Runtime error 1512, cannot support hardware at line 0?
This new gaming machine has windows 7,
intei p67 full atx m/b
15 2400 quadcore
8 gb ram
iTB wd sata3 Hdd 7200 rpm
1gb asus gtx 550 pcie
Yeah i dont really undertand all that but thats what its got!
Anyways really looking forward to online action with this game, any ideas on how to get it going?

That error means the game could not access the 3D video card on your system. It's generally caused by drivers not being installed or DirectX being out of date. Make sure you've applied the latest updates to the operating system through 'Windows Update', then install the latest drivers for your Nvidia video card, then download and run the DirectX updater available here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/d ... laylang=en
Then launch and run the game.
Then launch and run the game.

Ok nice seems to up and going. just did the training tutorial without it shutting down like it did on my laptop.
The guy i bought the computer from said he installed everything ..... so looks like the video card installer is now helping with lots of things lol.
If online rocks i hope to bring a few mates here from the past game.
Looks pretty special so far, nice work, still getting my head around 3d after playing 2d for so long

1. Select Top View.
2. Left click on your target.
3. Select Rear View.
4. Left click on your target.
5. Select Top View again.
6. Right click on your target.
The map zooms in when you right click. By left-clicking in both X-Z and X-Y maps, you've set your location in all three dimensions.

That is a memory related error. It means your system denied the game access to memory it needed to load that object or image. It will happen at different points with different error messages in single player versus multiplayer since the resource load for the two modes can be different. You have several options:
- Verify your system has enough available physical memory to run the game at full detail settings (Start > Run/Search > type in MSINFO32 and press enter > check the value next to 'Available physical memory' which should be above 1 GB).
- Determine what program or task is blocking the memory and stop it.
- Shut down any non-essential background tasks (for example, make sure memory hungry programs like web browsers are not running, especially if your system in lean on memory).
- Reduce details settings (start with 'Planet Detail' and set it to 'Low', then adjust it and other settings as needed).

ok that helped, i have 6.5gb physical space free. not sure how to stop a program that might be blocking the memory??? everthing else is shut down when i launch it. I got multi player working on low graphic settings and single player working a bit higher. community was very helpful in game already ty.

Hi Mathius.
Not sure if this is a legitimate solution, but I had the same error "runtime error7018 - cant load 3d object at 65144" and resolved it by using a utility called "4GB Patch". You point it at the "EvochronMercenary.exe" and it patches it so that it can handle larger memory addresses (or something like that - not a developer
). It's available at "http://www.ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php". The website also contains a better explanation of what the tool actually does.
I can now run Evochron Mercenary at maximum detail and have not had one crash. I run Windows 7 32bit with 4GB of RAM. Hope it helps you as it did me.

hey Vandem i extracted it and put it in evochron dir is that right? I just tested multiplayer and it still shuts down on max optimisation for everything. Seen as this is supossed to be a new flashy computer with hardly any programs on it surely i should be able to run the game at max graphics????

Try this solution for memory problems with vista/win 7
http://www.starwraith.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7674
You will find the solution in the second post. I would not use the 4gb thing because you have no control over what its doing..Thru CFF Explorer you have full control.

Hello Mathius. You need to run the utility. It will then popup with a box where you can navigate to the dir where the EvochronMercenary.exe is located. Choose the exe as the target and click OPEN. After this it will give a msg about whether it could patch the exe or not. Let me know what happens!

Hi AceOfSpades. That's great - it might not do as advertised, but I noted a few other sites talking about it and it seems legit. According to the developer it does what we can do through CFFExplorer - it's just a more straight forward way. Used it on other games with heavy memory requirements as well and it did the trick.

Forcing a memory space for the game using such utilities does apparently work for some. However, it's often best to try and pinpoint the root cause of the memory block on your system so you can get maximum performance and utilize all of its resources for the games you play and programs you run. Such blocked memory is usually caused by interference from other software, so I'd be interested in learning about what other programs (particularly security related) you may have running in the background while running the game.

Hi Vice,
I am not real sure what i might have running because computer is as fresh as a babies bottom. I dont have anything extravagant installed, think i have only downloaded 1 other game and some updates. the other game is not naev and is not open when i launch.
The security it has is just what comes with windows 7 and its updates.
I would like to know whats blocking the memeory also???

I'd be interested in an msinfo report on the system then ( http://www.starwraith.com/evochronmercenary/faq.htm#8 ). The 1.47X test builds of the game have lowered the upper memory resource need of the game a bit, so another thing you could try is build 1.472 posted in the other forum to see if it runs any differently.

Hi Mathius. Glad the patch made a difference! It is however true what Vice said - this just bypasses the problem. On my system I run a triad of security software - Threatfire, ZoneAlarm, Avira. Threatfire and ZoneAlarm specifically might be influencing an app's ability to use certain portions of memory, but none of them indicate this in a log or popup message of some kind. Will also give the test build a go sometime in the future. For now I'm just enjoying the sheer scope of the universe...
