EM 1448
OS: Windows 7 Professional 32
CPU: Core 2 Quad (2.4GHz)
RAM: 3072MB
GPU: GeForce 8600GT (512MB)
Soundblaster Audigy
I got this game yesterday and when I first played it, everything worked perfectly.
Today, however, the game now freezes after a few minutes of flight - sometimes immediately after launching (into space). The BGM keeps going however, but nothing else will respond.
Three restarts later and windows says that it had blue screened (as my screen just froze, I could not tell before that).
My computer does occasionally freeze, however it does so very infrequently, but it seems EM has started triggering it (or it may be unrelated).
Can anyone offer any assistance with this?

Freezing can be caused by a number of things. If you did get a blue screen, then it's important to find out the details as it may provide the solution to the problem. Freezing can be caused by defective memory, poorly seated memory/video card/other peripheral, overheating, defective drivers, damaged system files, legacy files from a past upgrade/software install, and more. I would recommend the following steps:
- Review the error log to try and locate the file associated with the blue screen. This can often lead to the cause being a bad system file or driver.
- Click on Start > Run/Search > type in SFC /SCANNOW and press enter. If you do not see the scan take place, you'll need to log in as an admin.
- Clean your system with a can of compressed air. Make sure the CPU and GPU heatsinks are free of dust.
- Unplug and carefully reseat your video card, sound card, and memory.
If the problem continues and you would like me to review your system for possible causes, complete the steps here: http://www.starwraith.com/evochronmercenary/faq.htm#8

I cleaned my PC when it first started happening, will try the scan. I'm already backing up my files in case I do a fresh OS install. My computer did crash quite quickly after start up so maybe it's not the game, just my PC dying.

Well, I reinstalled windows, which has stopped my system crashing outside of EM, but the game is still crashing on me.

Crashing or freezing? They are very different. If it's crashing, what error message is displayed. If freezing, the above causes would still be likely.
Edit: Also, if you'd like me to review your system for possible causes, follow the steps outlined here: http://www.starwraith.com/evochronmercenary/faq.htm#8
