It has fantastic graphics, a good story line, many options and it supports joysticks.
Imho it is far the better game. I still play it often
I wish I could use my mouse for control instead of just keyboard in it.:(

Yah mouse worked extremely well for Freelancer but imo StarLancer was made for Joysticks

I knew FreeLancer & Starlancer were sister games, but never made the connection to the Wing Commander/Chris Roberts.
Thanks for the info.

This Evochron thing is pretty scary. If it were any more addictive it would be illegal everywhere but Amsterdam and Vegas:P:P:P:P:P;)

running tie fighter last night. tonight im hooking up the dvi to component as I'm tired of looking at 1024 x 768 svideo, and my tv only has that and component, no hdmi :-(, then i am installing the final front control panels. also need to finish interior paneling and surround sound....

someday i will be finished and be able to play :-)

Very nice shots, thanks...
More photo with Evochron Mercenary would be cool!!!

Starlancer was a good game but unfortunately it was mission to mission game and no scenery objects (or very little) just fight fight fight!

I was Tachyon The Fringe fun till Evochron! Way better than Starlancer imo. But Evochron series are endpoint of "space and trading game sims".

Most definitely, after all I did build this for evochron! I came up with xwing' tie fighter, and wing commander back in the early days, then got my taste of more "sandboxy" titles like freelancer, eve oline and x3. But when I found evochron, it was like every good bit of all this games in one. This weekend I hope to have interior paneling done, the curved celling is a 4x8 piece of 1mm PVC, however I want to keep the curve but make more realistic paneling. Also, I've seen other pits where there are fifty thousand gauges, BUT this is space, this is the future, I imagine touch screens, a keyboard or two, and voice command. The iPad is functioning admirably as a MFD. More to come....

Thanks, and yes I will post more evochron pics soon. Actually a webcam mounted in the rear of the cockpit with a live feed might be cool....

Sorry it's been a while, I will have new pictures up by the weekend, I now have an in-dash LCD for use as MDF's, more interior paneling done, a full 5.1 surround sound system, and a TrackIR system for head tracking. Also got a headset for voice commands, although that is more for FSX. Pictures coming...

Very nice pit CaptMayne!

I am intrigued by the covering shell. Some of the pictures show a little reflection from the screen, have you considered adding some sort of mirrored surface to make side windows (from the pilot perspective)? I can't wait to see the new pics.

hey, just curious. would you be willing to post any blueprints? I'd love to build this myself (or even the arcade machine, lol).
that would be awesome for me to use X-Plane 9 in as well as evochron.

:D nice work. I wish I had the money and space to make something like that.

Anyways, one thing you can do is put up a bunch of monitors around you or use the same projection system the air force uses to train people to fly. That away you can get a full effect visual wise as if you were flying.

The only thing is you play this game a lot would need to find a way to make the cockpit not show up in the game. But the thing is if you can make the controls and stuff show up on different monitors you and you can hook some buttons to the roof like in regular commercial airplanes; you could make the inside of what you made look and work 100% like the inside of the cockpit in this game.
