This one's mainly going out to Vice, since if nobody else can help with this request, he should be able to.
So here's the deal. I would like to create my own custom city for my planet(s), but I really like how the default city looks when it's intersected by the planet terrain (kinda looks like a port/harbor ). Is there any way to get a hold of the base city.x file, so I can declare the default as the 'global' city object? Thanks.
There is are segment pieces, but there isn't really a core default city object per se. Cities are actually semi-procedurally generated in memory and assembled in pieces during run time (rather than just loading a static object).
In Merecenary, this is taken to a much more elaborate level (smaller segments, more variety, etc). While many of the cities share similar traits, the layout, rotations, and scaling is unique to each planet.
Oh okay, that's cool too! Well, while I'm the subject, is there any way to get ahold of other base meshes, like the plant mesh or perhaps one of the smaller civilian frames (as a scale reference more than anything else), to aid me in creating my own objects for the game? Thanks.
Warsign and a few other modders created objects for EL. You can probably reverse-engineer some of them to see how they did what it is they did (ships, cities ... not sure about flora or stations).
Oh hello again Marvin,
That's a good idea, but (for reasons unknown) I seem to be compelled to work off the originals (they are cool designs! [practical looking and everything]) I would love to get a hold of plant mesh, and 'densify' it up, kinda like the tree mod we got for EECH. (I think I could spare the polys)
