Evochron Mercenary dedicated server (Linux)...

Im trying to host my own Evochron mercenary on server i own with a couple of other people. But the server is running linux and so far i had no luck running the server software in wine.

Has anyone of you guys ran the server software on linux without the use of a virtual machine. a virtual machine would take up alot of "unneeded" resources and im trying to avoid it.

furthermore is setting up a virtual machine over x-forwading tedious to say the least.

im srry if this is a known issue. but i searched for it and found no recent posts.

Hi Roflincopter, welcome to the game and forum. I do not think it will work what you trying to do, I'm not familiar with the wine software, and know a little about linux. Some players mentioned in some threads that they tried to run the game on linux using wine but alcohol and electricity don't mix very well.....LOL....

:P I do not think they where succesfull......

IIRC, one guy had partial success ... but that was so long ago it could've been with Legends and not Mercenary.
