a few updates

Hey everyone. Thought I'd share my work on what I hope will be a pretty awesome space simulator cockpit, specifically designed for Evochron. I started construction last weekend and hope it will be complete in a month or so. It will be fully enclosed with a 42" plasma as the screen, as well as a secondary monitor for gauges/maps. I've drawn from several existing cockpit designs, although I've never seen someone build an enclosed "spacecraft" cockpit so I thought it would be a cool idea. Like a real smart guy, I haven't made any cad or design plans so it's all on the fly, but I am documenting measurements and such so others can build it down the road. I'll post my progress as it comes along! Here is a picture of an arcade cab I've built as well.

Hope to see development phases and finished product. Starting such a project is %50 of whole job. Congrats!

3 small screens would be good for HUDs, 42 is so nice for main screen!

Yeah that would be awesome, although I think I am going to use a single 17" or so lcd and just bezel it through the console so it appears to be 2 or 3 separate screens. I have to keep this thing within "budget" lol

got a little more work done today, mainly the fore section where the plasma will rest, hope to have the main front panel and throttle/stick arm panels done this week. Next weekend I want to start assembling the walls and entrance hatch...

haha. trust me, there's a fair share of eyeballing involved too. this project epitomizes the term, "wingin' it"

LOL......Even tape measures can be confusing and mess you up. Specialy the ones that have inches and feet on one side and centimeters and meters on the other side and you keep forgetting which side you used for the last measurement.....

Almost finished with the frame. Hope to get paneling done this week as well as install the plasma, cpu, controls, and sound system.

Uuuuuhm!....I think I see a problem. How are you going to fit it through the door once it is finished. If you leave it in your Garage you have to route power from inside your house to the garage unless you have some power outlets in your garage...

the interior is top secret right now, so here's a view of the outer hull, freshly constructed, still needs a lot of detailing before painting and graphic application. Oh yea, and it's a little bigger than I had originally planned,

lmao, oh trust me it will be there. i got froggy and had to hook up the computer to try everything out, i want to finish the interior and control setup this week so the next round of pics should be awesome, along with the mandatory beer holder. What is it w/ FreeLancer? Hasn't anyone besides Vice & I who have played the sister game, "StarLancer"?
It has fantastic graphics, a good story line, many options and it supports joysticks.
Imho it is far the better game. I still play it often
