Blue Squire, anyone reading on this frequency?

Post by Blue_Squire »

Hi, my callsign's Blue Squire and I have to admit I'm a total rookie.

I had a dream about finding a space sim just like this! So this is literally a dream come true, as corny as it may sound.

Did the tutorial, got a bit lost trying to find the station (I blame my navigation computer) Very cool!

I get to the main game, combat pilot, old country music playing on my ship's radio. Want to start off small, find a lost item for the Navy? Sounds good pardner!

Problem is, whenever I take a mission and try to jump straight to the nav point (the way point for the mission) As soon as I hit 'jump' the nav point changes from 15K straight ahead to 255K off to the side. So I end up out in the middle of nowhere and the mission is automatically failed.

I find if I manually move the nav point away from the objective then I can jump to it fine, but it's hard to estimate how close it is and I risk getting close or jumping out to nowhere. Also I can't figure out how to scroll the navigation map.

I'm wondering if this is intended or if I've got some sort of bug (still on the demo version at the moment, was hoping to play multi with my friends after we all check it out)

Any help is much appreciated! I don't want to let this get in the way of what I'm expecting to be a great experience!

Thank you for your time.

Ah, that must be it!

I was holding down ALT and clicking the jump button.

Many thanks Eclipse! I'll be flying again in no time!

Hi Blue Squire and welcome! Jump on MP as soon as you feel comfortable - everyone's really helpful on there and it makes space a whole lot more interesting!

Thank you kindly for the welcome!

I'm finding combat a bit of a difficulty. Haven't actually managed to shoot anything down yet, but I'll just do some non-combat roles until I can upgrade my boat!

Hello Blue_Squire, until you get a little experience and good equipment you need to pick on one "RED" at a time and don't try to go head to head. Set your speed about 700 to 1000 using afterburners and IDS off with your ship aimed at the Enemy ship. Start firing when within your guns range not before or you waste energy. Keep firing until the enemy is out of range and repeat this until one of you dies (lol)! Welcome to the forum and the Sim. Have fun and hope to see you out there sometime.:)
