I had some minor trouble installing btw, nothing big it just told me windows installer crashed but the app itself still managed to get onto my hard drive with no hassles. Being able to hide labels until a mouse over wouldn't hurt as the map looks kinda cluttered at first blush, imho. Other than that I think this is an amazing application. Though shouldn't it be Universal positioning system rather than Global positioning system

@Siege
Sir.
I had the same problem on my PC. Its a virtual machine , so i didnt think much about it. Ill have a look at it. Are you running XP?
I hear you about the mouseover. I dont know how humongus resolutions you pilots have, but it sure looks cluttered. Would seeing the names in the table to the right be enough and then add a mouseover for labels? hmm.. and i guess this only applies to the first zoomlevel right?
I didnt quite get your comment about Universal vs Global. Could you elaborate on that.

I'm running Vista, I think sp2. the universal/global was a joke, a gps stands for global positioning system and ofc that doesn't really apply in space. From post: 101438, Topic: tid=7218, author=MapMan wrote:@Siege

sorry not one of my best attempts at humour! - I realised the point about GPS and the Universe and just extrapolated - Universal would become UPS which is a parcel delivery service in the UK at least

Excellent application... nice work SeeJay/MapMan! You two really are doing a great job to increase the fun for other EM players.
A small thing I noticed is that sometimes it takes a while to zoom back to the complete map, for example I had to click 10 times and each time was 1 second to load, so it's like 10 seconds to zoom back out to the original map. Unless it's already there and I missed it, a button to zoom back out in a single click would be useful.

A couple of observations
On the downloaded version of the prog, in the Pearl System the naming is "Pearl Station" on the zoomed in map but "Pear" on the list. It's "Pear" for the System, the four "Gates to . ." and for the "Blackhole to Unknown" on the data list as well. Perhaps the system is based on agriculture! On the Internet prog everything is labelled as "Pearl"
Zooming Out is virtually instantaneous - Zoom out to whole Universe from max zoom in on Sapphire took 6 seconds

although the map IS infact based on agriculture code, its not supposed to be racist against space objects, or for that fact inject humour in the map canvas itself. From post: 101506, Topic: tid=7218, author=DaveK wrote:A couple of observations

I can infact read the savedata.txt into the Windows and Mac versions of the Map. This opens up for everything we can imagine.
Stay tuned. Keep the testing going
Reset-button will soon zoom out completely

Hi
I think that you can ignore the reply I made about mispelled Pearl (being Pear). I've had a closer look (literally) because the last letter off any text appeared to look cut off a bit.
In the PC based programme only, on my monitors at least, the text shown has a quirk. The last little bit of the last letter looks clipped but looking very closely the last vertical column of pixels of the text is very pale golden yellow. This means that narrow letters (i and l) dont seem to appear when they are typed but then appear when the next letter or a space is typed. If I type in Pearl, it appears as Pear but on peering closely (very closely!) at the screen I can see a pale version of the final "l". If I type another "l" thinking that I mistyped the first one then it looks like "Pearl" but on a close look is "Pearll" - last letter very pale. Obviously doing that search gives no finds!
All the text in the search results has this clipping, as do the button labels. Cancel at the bottom appears as "Cance"
The main screen has the same issue: Sol seems to be So - Pearl =Pear - Al's Quay II looks like Al's Quay I and Thunderbird discovered a System called S51'
Is it just me or is it a formatting issue?
Edit: Hi I've just seen your reply - I can take a screenshot - how can I get it to you? I am going away for a few days, starting this lunchtime - if this reply doesn't help, then I will get back to you as soon as I get back

I was thinking that perhaps Stellar Cartography might be a better term for what you're up to here?
Just downloaded the new update, looking cool, still had the error installing it though.

EM-SAT
EM-UC (Evochron Mercenary Universe Cartography)
