Modders and all those clever people out there, and Eclipse.

While on patrol last night with Bossky Boy and Ravefeeder, a little "discussion" developed on the alarm or otherwise of an FT launch. I said there was no audio alarm, Bossk said there was, Raven just continue to breathe heavily.

Anyway it seems that there is an alarm or rather "Missile Inbound" caution. Not quite the same as "Some idiot has launched an FT. Get the hell out of there!" type alarm.

So the question is, if I find/create my own FT alarm, how do I make it work in game. I am not a modder, but I can do a fair old bit.

Cheers pilots and pilotesses.:):):):):)

Clips

I thought that the alarm in EL was a real "This is an FT!" alarm, but was thinking that old age was catching up and I was having a Senior Moment!

I have looked but can't find anything, hence the post.

Thanks for looking. See you out there sometime.

Is Eclipse singled out because he doesn't fall in the prior catagory?:):)

Ah, yes, I remember that! It came as a result of Dengar not knowing if a FT was inbound. Me and Raven had a great laugh at Dengars expense because the FT he was not aware off was the one HE just launched, that subsequently killed him! Oh how we laughed.

Any-ho, I don't know if Clips is correct or not, but when the FT's were launched last night, I heard the same warning as when a standard missile is launched, and I think a verbal warning as well, but I cant remember - not paying too much attention, coz of all the laughing.

If it is possible to change it, how is this done, and also, how can I/Dengar/Anybody else change the text colour in the chat box for the FT warning message so it stands out more?

BTW, I have done a search for warn2.wav, but cant find the file. Where are the sounds stored?

Ta lots.

From the number of times I've surprised myself by "jumping" when I thought that I was checking the Nav Screen, I for one can't be relied on to know what I've pressed! It gets even worse in combat when I'm trying to prod the next or nearest hostile buttons! :P:P:P:P

download the Evochron Mercenary Customization Kit and view the readme.
you must ADD the custom files to the game folder, not modify existing files

Cheers CC. I'll have a go.

May I say that despite Bossky Boys mirth at my expense, he did miss something out.

HE was blown up with Ravenfeeder when Raven launched an FT!!

Oh how I laughed!!!!

SeeJay, I must comment that this latest foray by BA is a result of the Mad Jock RavenFeeders ideas of making a big step in the rankings. And of course Bossky Boys willingness to listen!!!!

Didn't quite pay off though!!!

So, old Navy trick - never listen to a Mad Jock on how to get promoted quickly!!!!!

Wouldn't warning people of an FT launch defeat the purpose of using FTs?

It makes sense until you launch a $6 million fulcrum torpedo and everyone simply jumps away before it goes off because they had sufficient warning.

I mean, the thing is SLOW, it cannot be locked onto a target, so the only hope you have of hitting anything with it is if nobody knows that it is there until it goes off.

If you take that away, then the FT will become totally useless, and nobody will want to spend $6M on one just to detonate it in empty space. It doesn't even produce much of a fireworks effect.

 Then don't use it in empty space. Use it in the middle of an asteroid field or (where I got caught) when somebody is inside an asteroid cave. Even if the FT doesn't get 'em, the cave's interior will.

LOL....can use them also to quickly complete destroy 10 enemies contracts...but again takes skill and practice...:P:P:P:P:P

And by the way, Space is relatively not empty and relatively not a vacuum. It can be a Dust Buster though.
