3 days in: mercenary quest. first mining contract fail

Loving the game.

The IMG told me to go to Outpost 5 near Sapphire and accept a mining contract. It's the first mining contact u have to do in the Mercenary quest.

So I accept the contract - which is to mine 25 units of platinum. It says "go to the waypoint"

I go to the waypoint.

I use tractor/mining beam on an asteroid and low and behold, 'Plat-1' shows up in my cargo.

I then fulcrum back to Outpost 5 and dock.

It says 'Contract Objectives Failed'....

.... what vital step am I missing??????????

I checked my cargo space and I have Cargo 1 (which is 25 units) so in getting Plat-1 (which I'm assuming is platinum) I should have met the terms of the contract???

To be sure I upgraded to Cargo 2 which is 50 units and brought back 50 units of Plat-1.

It still said I've failed objective.

I'd love some advice.

Beyond that: I am enjoying flying around and stuff!! Evochron is awesome!!!! From an old Frontier fan (who recently thanks to iDOS can now play Elite II on his iPhone) while catching the train, this game is awesome.

but yeah. I'm totes stuck so would love some help

Hi Trumpet and welcome to a great sim/community.

That seems a bit odd. Are you sure you are docking at the right station.
If you leave the sector it might result in a filed contract.

Good luck and try it in MP and you will get a lot of help from others, watch out for
BA clan since they like to welcome new pilots with a boom, LOL!

Sounds like you are only getting 1 unit of platinum. Keep mining until you get 25 units. Each bay holds 25 units. It should take serveral minutes to get 25 units.

Thanks mate. That was exactly what I was doing. I thought Plat-1 was like shorthand for 'platinum', not the number of platinum units.

Hi Trumpet, Welcome to the game and forum. Yes mining is not that easy....LOL.....Plat-1 if that was worth 25 units you would get a lot more credit.....Hint: Check the unit Price of Platinum before selling and see how much credit you get. That should tell you how many units you brought to the station..... See you out there some time.....
