I have created a very special site for all the mod creators and the excellent writers that we have on this board.

it's an automated archive site, meaning that all you need to do is sign up and add your stories for people to browse. But it's not just for stories as I show with my Comitis entry you can add a 'story/chapter' for anything you like, meaning that you can post about your modifications and more there including your software.

The site is 90% done now, all I really need is for the users of this board to go over there and post your mod's/stories/software up there.

It's dead easy to use and very simple to navigate but if you have any problems please let me know via the contact us link on the site.

I'd really like it if you all used the site, it's much more simple for end users to browse for mods' etc than a forum board and it allows you to upload images of your work etc there.

Please do use the site, I'm hoping it will become the unofficial hub for stories/mods/software to do with the Starwraith 3D games universe.

Here's the link:-
EvoFic (Don't be fooled by the name)

Please sticky me! :)

I know, but this site is for just about everything and i know fro experience it's an excellent platform, particularly for end users of the site, like readers of fan fiction, or those looking for mods etc. This site isn't going to have an explorations database, unless someone writes some software and posts it there. It's also one that I don't ever have to personally upload images/files for anyone for the most part it's totally automatic.

Hi Siege

I've just had a look around the site - it has a cool professional look, though obviously a bit sparse at the moment;) I offer these thoughts for people to take, leave, shred or ridicule:P . . .

It obviously has a very different use to SeeJay's download section (which I think was originally for his own map related stuff).

Your site could act as a central point for actual stuff (stories, mods, wallpapers etc) rather than discussions about them. It would be great to be able to find all the stories produced in one place for example. :D

SeeJay has given an extraordinary amount of time to creating and maintaining the map - it's not really fair to ask him to maintain a central store of community produced stuff as well. His download page is designed to let you download (so you need to know what you want before you can get it) - your website allows anyone to explore and see what is available and look at things before downloading.

Personally, I think that it is an excellent idea. Perhaps, in order to get things rolling, you might ask the story makers and modders if they mind you uploading their stuff to the site - it's asking a lot to leave it to them to do. Once the site is populated with stuff it will gain its own momentum and I think that people will be happy to upload their own material.

Perhaps a link in each "article" to the relevant thread on the forum would help to integrate the two sites - ditto a mention in the thread if something is available on EvoFic :D

ps: Why Comitis?

I can't upload peoples stuff even if i ask as it's an account based thing, so each contributor has an account and their reviews go to them, not I. But I have contacted a few people to ask them to post. i'm hoping they will shortly.

Comes Comitis - Companion in Latin, well one of the many meanings for that phrase.

Good idea on the linking, I'm hoping people will do that. Spread the word peeps! :) I'm contacting a few people every day or so to try to tease them aboard. ironing out any kinks i may come across as I go etc. The thing the site really needs is content. It's based on a fiction engine, in fact it IS a fiction engine, but it's done in such a way that it doesn't just have to be for fan fiction/fiction. Already we have some great wallpapers available and my software is there as well. I'm hoping mods will shortly be available as well, everything has a corresponding category so people browsing the site can get right in there and find what they want, without trawling through millions of posts :)

I also just added some more content, some old school stuff this time including a load of systems from the old Evochron Systems Registry (Remember that?) for Evochron Alliance. As well as a systems editor for Evochron and Evochron Alliance. Don't say no one plays that anymore because I do, and I am sure I'm not the only one :P

Site's been updated with warsign's mods, and a couple of short tutorials, one of which dates back to evochron the original!

I'm looking for people to write some tutorials for the site and ofc some fan fiction authors. Please contact me via the u2u here if you're interested in contributing and if you wish for your story to be posted just make an account and start posting. I'll quickly validate you and your stories on the site, just post them and they will come :)

Thanks,

I'm learning a new language which is VERY cool called PureBasic and one of my learning projects might turn out to be useful to others so I've added it to the EvoFic site.

Tiny MP3 - Simple self extracting zip file, not an install file.

It's a very small, less than 50k mp3 player. If you're anything like me you need all the hdd space and memory you can lay your hands on, WinAmp actually lowers my Mercenary fps so I made this to combat that so I can still listen to music while I play.

 I usually keep my background programs at zilch (except those related directly to the game ... such as the Nav Tracker) ... but that MP3 player I gotta try.

Hope it works out well for you. I won't lie, there is an odd kink or two brought about by my lack of knowledge to do with the language, but it will even minimise to the task tray, (By the clock) so it's out of the way. The only real bug i've come across so far is that when you load the playlist it add's a blank track, but I'm attempting to fix that tomorrow.

btw that does no damage, it just stops playing until you hit play or next/back or something.

It's totally blank, so it doesn't play it at all it just stops, as a temp fix just highlight that blank one, and hit the delete button to remove it. I'll fix it for real tomorrow some time. It's only a blank entry not a playable track at all. It's attempting to play a file that doesn't exist, so it just sits' there and stares at you when it get's to that entry :) I only noticed that one a little while ago, I tend to randomise a fairly large list so obviously that didn't rear its head easily.

Okay redownload if you would like, I have removed the pesky error and all things being equal there should be no other errors in the damn thing. Sorry for that and the delay between last post and this, my pc wanted to be a pain in my bum for a while. But the file is uploaded and is even slightly smaller than it was before! :D
