Can I trade Ferret for a Talon without ending up space debis?

If I start as a combat pilot with a decked out Ferret and trade it at the nearest civilian base for a Talon or other available civilian frame will I be banded a traitor / deserter. The reason I ask is because I could use the extra 3.5 million to buy more space twinkies and go juice for a mining and space trucking company.

I don't see any immediate reprecusions but I don't want to be running from the military the rest of the game.

Please share your vast Evochron knowledge with me.

The military won't hunt you down. But I.M.G (the Mercenary Guild) will pester you until you've done their quest. Well ... not "pester" exactly. But they definitely take the opportunity (via Chat) to let you know they're interested.

Thanks for the info, as for the IMG I think 3.5 million might be worth the quest spam to me.

I am basically just doing training now.

Just one more question if you don't mind.

How long do you think it would take me to get 3.5 million mining and trading if I started out as a miner / trader with absolutely no idea of where to go or what trade routes are the most profitable?

After all I want to explore the game myself. I'm just not sure I wanna pass up a 3.5 million credit starting bonus tho.

My way, both in Mercenary and Legends, was to install four or five cargo spaces, land on a planet near a city, mine for gold, silver, diamonds and that other expensive stuff ... filling one cargo bin with each. Then turn around and sell it all at the city station. Others prefer to mine asteroids and sell at stations ... but I prefer the scenery planetside.

Thanks for the tip. I think I will just grind out the millions myself. I will feel better about it. After all it seems I have plenty of time to waste.

Btw, if you join a guild holding a lot of territory, you'll pick up 101,000 credits each cycle you're on the MP server. Without doing a thing. Add to that the opportunity to join in on some co-op combat with a vet or two ... and you'll make those millions in no time at'oll.

Mining asteroids is a dirty boring job, but everybody has to do it.
Port Rivoch pays the highest prices. Keep the beam moving, it mines faster.
Dump the metl and concentrate on Dia & Plat.
You should have 3.5 mill in no time!

Thanks for the comments. I got plenty of money now. I'm doing some hit and run exploration. Basically I'm just running ( from missles mainly) all over the galaxy my trusty jump drive at my side. Found out where to get a lot nice ships and equipment and they didn't even charge me a docking fee. Now its time for payback.
