I am new to the game and started a new clan USF (United Starship Federation)

How do Clans get Olympus or any other quadrant?

Hi Ghost.

This is how it works in general. I'm using clan HB as an example.
Welcome!

This is pointers to get you up to speed regarding clan stuff and basic skills needed.

Clan Systems in MP:
Add [HB] to your profile name. (When selecting profile, rename first. Mine is: [HB] SeeJay).
When doing contracts with clan tag on, you affect systems by
decreasing % control in another clan controlled system and increase
% control in HB systems.
Check control in Nav (F1) and Quadrant. HB are green.
When controlling more than 70% in a system all clan members get paid 101000
for each cycle and system when online. Control % decrease is freezed when a clan member is online.
When offline, it decreases. To reduce decrease rate we build stations.
Name stations with [HB] Name. The more stations we have, the slower decrease rate.
Max is 50/system.
Do not do any contracts in another clans systems without approval from that clan unless you are attacing ;-)
Exceptions are: IMG quest, helping another pilot and warzones.

Doing contracts/destroying station for another clan in their system
when they are offline are considered not honorable by most pilots.

Hope this helps a bit.

Thank you for the explanation. I understand and agree about destroyng stations isn't acceptable or an act of war but asking permission to run missions in a system is extreme.
How do ask a clan if you can run a mission when the majority of the time the clan is not around? I was on the Remula server this weekend sparingly and saw no HB or EG clan member on.
Again I am a novice and this is just an observation. My opinion is if your not on this server or not playing this game a lot then you deserve to lose your system.
Otherwise these are permanent clan properties which I believe creator of this game did not want.

 Some of us win and lose systems at the drop of a hat. Just keep in mind that, if you claim another clan's territory as your own, you will then be forced to defend yourself as would any invader. Just look what the Vonari must put up with in war zones, every day of the week.

Hi Ghost.

I can only answer for myself. This is not rules in anyway on R1. It's just my opinion
and some players agree with me and some don't.

As for HB, we are on R1 almost every day at some point, depending on timezone.
To bring a clans system down by doing contracts are very easy when there is no defence
around. It can be done in an hour or so (100% to 0%).
If the clan isn't around for some time, the % will decrease.
In my opinion a system is deserted (lost) if it drops below 50%.
Then it's a fair go for anyone to do what they want regardless of defending
clan is online or not. Decrease rate are constant depending on how many stations the clan has there.
It's easy to calculate when my systems are below 50% if I need to know, therefor it's also
easy to spot if anyone is doing contract when defending clan is offline.

As i said, this is not rules, just my opinion.

 Personally, I find the "50% Rule" as good as any. I've been using it ever since Reaver invaded IM territory.

Hi Ghost.

I have reports that [USF] Ghost was destroying HB stations on R1.
Was any HB pilot present?

Dear SeeJay,

I was not playing last night!
I had football practice and home work.
Thank you again for the detail in your explanation.
As far as another USF pilot blowing up stations, thus far its just me but shepard_3 has agreed to join today. So far we have two pilots, hopefully we can grow our clan.

Ok Ghost.

I was just wondering since I got a report about it.
(I was not on myself at the time)

My apologies if they were wrong or if I misunderstood it.
No offense, but actions like that has been
happening a lot so I was not surprised that it did again.
Must have been another pilot doing it then.

No problem, I am learning the game and appreciate the effort you put in explaining. I hope to grow the USF and have a system of our own to call home. In the future, we will only take a system which a clan is absent from all the time.
SW, NS and IM are always on Remula 1.

 Currently, all of IM's systems are out in the boondocks. I can point you to unclaimed systems ... but they, too, are in the boonies.

Ghost, many of HB clan members are from europe, and as such they are there during the day US time. Mikeuk, Davek, and SeeJay are all on R1 pretty much everyday at some point. Try and remember that EM community is very international in nature, and as such, people will play at different times.

This is all very interesting. I am a new player, and have spent about 2 weeks playing SP. Last night I logged into R1 for the first time for about an hour or so, mostly just making sure I could connect, etc. This afternoon I played for a few hours, mostly doing some contracts in Lost Rucker.

How does my being in the game affect clan control, as an unaffiliated pilot? Documentation is hard enough to find on even the mechanics of the game in SP. Is there anything that explains dynamics in MP? I know next to nothing about how player stations and such work.

Hi and welcome Parrish.

If you fly without a clan tag [clan] you are not effecting any clan systems at all.

If you build stations the only thing you affect tis that your station counts
towards the max (50) stations allowed in any system.

 In fact, if you link up with a clan pilot working his/her own territory, your help in completing contracts will probably be most appreciated.

I will probably need some additional combat time and lessons before I will be of more use than just another target to distract the Reds!

Ahh, that sounds like fun, while getting to see how others handle their ships.

My combat skills are improving slowly. I manage to bring my ship home in one piece about half the time, when I take on four enemies. I have hired a local navy pilot to watch my back while I improve.
