splitting stacks?

How do I split stacks of cargo in mercenary? I'm trying to Pre-Prime my bay for mining runs.

Let's say I have Plat x 3 in one slot and I want my bay to look like:

1. plat x 1
2. plat x 1
3. plat x 1

been experimenting with right mouse clicks and came up empty.

Leave 1 unit of what ever commodity you mine in one cargo bay, or 1 unit of what ever item, in each. That way, when you're mining for that/those commodities, the commodities will fill in the targeted cargo bay. Right clicking doesn't really help with cargo bay management at all, lest you're trying to sell or purchase something.

You can also buy a Platinum Mining beam. The you won't need to "save" any items in
your cargo bays. It always mines Plat only.

If you have a regular tractor/mining beam do this.

When your cargo bay fills up make sure in the first 2 slots you get something else other then plat. for example:

1. metal x 3
2. diamonds x 1
3. plat x 1

Next discard the number 2. diamonds and keep discarding the number 2. Item till it reads 2. plat x 1. and by now your number one slot might be full with metal alloys and your second bay might have gotten more platinum. So the next should look something like this:

1. metal x 25
2. plat x 3
3. plat x 1

Now you can discard all the metal aloys in slot 1 and keep discarding slot 1 till it reads 1. plat x 1. And now you should have something like this:

1. plat x 1
2. plat x 4
3. plat x 1

And now your all set to fill up all slots with plat.....but this is the tedious way....LOL....better get a Platinum tractor/mining beam as suggested.

What Maars says is correct. Except, sometimes, you can discard the other minerals before you've filled up on platinum and, if the next mineral you mine is platinum, it'll load to an empty slot. Leastwise, it's worked that way for me.

What Maars says is correct. Except, sometimes, you can discard the other minerals before you've filled up on platinum and, if the next mineral you mine is platinum, it'll load to an empty slot. Leastwise, it's worked that way for me.

This only works if the first slots are all full with Platinum if it is only platinum your after with a regular tractor mining beam.

If you already have platinum in the first slot that slot will fill with platinum first and the other empty slots will fill with what ever the beam picks up next except for platinum cause that is already in slot 1. The way I suggest with a regular beam is the best because you can keep mining and go make some coffee or have a break and come back and find all your slots filled with platinum......:P

The way it usually happens to me is, for example:

• I crank up the beam using Alt+B
• I check my cargo bays ... but I'm a bit late in doing so
• Bay 1 is already filling up with metal
• Bay 2 has one or two units of gold
• I expunge Bay 1 of metal
• The next unit is gold but it loads in Bay 1
• I must therefore spend additional time in Bay Watch

Actually, being made of metal and composite material, I was a lot of things before being combined into a robot: the binoculars, the ice chest, the surfboard, the walky-talky ....

They weren't much good. No matter which end you looked through, the magnification was a negative.
