Destroyed while docked on planet

Post by alhypo »

There have been two instances of me docking on a planet and then blowing up shortly thereafter with no hostiles anywhere nearby. It did happen during a storm but I've landed on plenty of planets with active storms where I didn't blow up. I thought maybe the atmosphere was corrosive like Venus, but then why would there be settlements there? So how do I tell which planets will destroy me and which are safe?

What BraveHart said is correct, but some planets can still be landed on with ships like the Mammoth or Leviathin if you have shields strong enough and set at max.
I wouldn't dawdlle if I were you tho! :P

 The cities on those planets are populated by a rare breed of genetically enhanced, acid-resistant beings. You can often see their ships shuttling in and out of Gorfburger stations, delivering meat, buns and veggies. The pilots make a fortune, due to the fact normal ships cannot tarry long enough, planetside, to pick up a load of goods for delivery.

it's one of those mysterious things that are found in Evochron - I've always assumed that when I enter the station, my ship stays docked outside unless I have it taken into the hanger for modifications.

When I sit in my ship at one of the destructive planet city stations checking contracts or buying and selling - the usual humdrum routine of merc life - I'm atoms within a few minutes - usually before I can take off and leave the atmosphere (must make a note to chanell all spare power to the shields!:D)

but . . .

When I enter the station for a breather because trying to plan in the perpetual storm outside is a stressor, my ship is fine until I get back to her regardless of how long I've been in the station - then I'm atoms within a few minutes - usually before I can take off and leave the atmosphere!! :P

I wonder if there are any special deals available because they are so hard to get in and out of safely . .. hmmmmm . . .

Yeah, for some reason entering the station kinda puts everything on hold.
No a bug exactly, just one of those things that happen.

I'm not complaining - when hostiles are knocking on the hull, it's nice to have a bit of peace and quiet to work out how to get away! :P

Have you tried to use the "enter Station" function after docking? This protectes you from hostiles.:)

Yes, but you can't keep an eye on what the opposition is doing and sometimes I've been hit inside the station field! :D
