Just double checking - We are starting at 8:00pm GMT = 8:00pm UT = 9:00pm in the UK because of British Summer Time?

 I'm up, awake, and preparing the roster so I can track events (for comparison to MMaggio's log). Hopefully, I'll be sitting on the server an hour before start time so that, if anyone wishes to log on and ask questions, I'll be available to answer them.

Thanks Dingo,

That makes it 19:00 UT = GMT (15+4) = 20:00 BST (15+4+1) which is 8:00pm for UK players.

- I hate BST with its gaining an hour, losing an hour or whatever - it's not like we have a Summer in the UK anyway! :D

Call me a saddy, but I'm getting quite excited :P

Well, not only the rally won't work on my end, but now even the game itself won't let me get into R1 server to play.

I downloaded a fresh install of the game and applied it to make a fresh start but to no avail.

During the loading after the server selection I got an error message about a planet texture and the game crash.

Well... seems like we'll be seeing next sunday if I'll be able to fix all this mess.
Best regards

Denny.

Did you try marvins testfile earlier?
Is that file still in your folder? If so, remove it.

:o Denny, you'll need to troubleshoot your game and post anything you can come up with. Vice had to make changes to the game so it could use a compiled text file and, if your problem is due to something other than a corrupt download, I suspect Vice will want to know about it.

 Okay, the results are fairly cut and dry, so I'll post them here for now (final announcement and awards will come later).

1st Place: SeeJay, with a rally time of around 38 minutes.

2nd Place: Dingo, with a rally time a little over one hour ... due to numerous attempts to cross the finish line in one piece.

3rd Place: DaveK (Speedster), with a rally time longer than one hour ... due mostly to the need to retrace his steps for part of the route.

Honorable Mention: Denny, for his numerous attempts to get the Rally file to work.

Again, thanks Marvin for all the time and effort you put into creating this! :)

(And to the support staff who helped make it happen!

And to MMaggio for hosting it

And to Vice for creating the game)

(it's beginning to sound like an Oscar speech!) :)

I'll try to launch the game again after a cold stop of the PC, yesterday I did not reboot but cleared all the quest files both in main folder and in the universe folder where it is stored uncompiled.

Will let you know how it goes and if there is the need to alert Vice.

:o Denny, make sure you don't have either the test file or another version of the rally file ...
  • In your main game folder.
  • In the same location you download the current file.

Just logged on R1 server without a problem. Seems like the reboot cured all the issues.

Too bad for the rally, I'll have to troubleshot this for next time.

 The certificates have been posted in the Role Playing section of the forum, where Vice will sticky the topic. I had a question about the name given to the third place winner and have asked SeeJay for clarification (and correction, if necessary).

 Now that it's all done and over with, I'd like to thank the following people and give credit where credit is due:
  • Vice: for being the Rally Sponsor and providing MMaggio's Chat Log.
  • SeeJay: for hosting the Rally Files and coordinating with InkedMike.
  • MMaggio: for hosting the server and maintaining the Chat Log.
  • InkedMike: for creating the certificates and signature icons.
  • The Pilots: for making the whole thing worth the effort.

Bothing changed from last time so it shouldn't work, but I may try.
