Question berfore buying

Post by Arre »

Hello,

Have some questions before buying this game :)

1. Is there any difference between single and multiplayer?
Have played a lot of Freelancer through out the years and like the idea that you can trade and do all that stuff in multiplayer?
Some other games that have been released have had a singleplayer trading system but only a mission/scirmish based multiplayer experience...

2. Can i have really big ships in the game, like flying battlecruiser of some sort?

3. Additional question to that, can my friend control gun turret on that ship or is it one player/pilot experience only?

Hi Arre.

Welcome. I can only say that this is the best space sim I have ever played.
I played a lot of Freelancer and this is so much better.
Total freedom to do what you want.

1. Anything you do in MP/SP carries over to the other, except stations that you build.
What you build in SP stays there and what you build in MP stays there until someone blows it up.

2. There is "only" fighter size ships. Both military and civilian. Many different ships thou.

3. Two pilots can connect and one is pilot and the other is Gunner on that ship.

Hope to see you out in MP.

Our multiplayer community is small, but very friendly & helpful. You need not worry about being "pounced" on by other players. PVP does exist, but mostly by mutual agreement.
The game does have an option to allow two seperate players in MP only, to mutually join with one being the pilot and the other being a turret gunner. This adds considrably to your overall firepower.
Your friend could be your turret gunner only if he has purchased the game as well.
You can also "share" contracts with other players in MP and if successfully completed, both get the same pay.
While there are no Capitol ships to pilot, there are some fairly large ships to buy and you can hire up to four crewmen.
Later, there are a series of military ships you can purchase and they have distinct advantagtes over some civillian ships.
In single player mode, you can hire a "fleet" to help you, but it is not available in MP.
and lasly, the server runs 24/7 and is totally free!
What more could you want? :D

In all honesty SeeJay, nobody but Vice knows how big the ships really are.

I for one would like to know some technical data on the available frames, default lenght, hight, width for instance so that I have some idea how big my ship really is.

I know with the shipyard options you can resize the rest of the ship but I still have no idea how big the ships in EM really are.

Thats true Avenger, but if you fly next to a carrier it sure
looks like a fighter size, no matter what frame you use!

Next to a carrier everything looks tiny. :P

I did notice that Civ frames are bigger then Mil ones, but some info on this would be nice, just so you have a general idea how big your boat is.

Once I know I can order that hot tub I had my eye on for a while so me and my crew can enjoy some more luxery and relaxation.

Edit: Saw a type there. :P

Welcome to the forum Arre :) - if you are still unsure paly the demo mode for a while

For the first time this evening I actually saw another AI ship in a station - even bumped into it! It also hung around for a while as I followed it around I think it was offering to trade - it's a strange feeling to actually be able to see someone else's ship (though I have seen other players ships in MP) I mention it because it gives an idea/feel of how small our ships are compared to the station docking bay - normally I feel that I am occupying a large proportion of the bay! :D
