New pilot in the quadrant

Post by Ykses »

My first message here, and it will be to congratulate the Author/Creator of this amazing game that is Evochron ! :)
Great job Vice ...really difficult to imagine there is only one man behind the scene :P
You rock !!!

I play since only 1 week, and I love the "atmosphere" of the game (freedooooooom) et the variety of the gameplay :)
Really immersive

Also, just a little question (I think it's not a bug, but a feature... you know ^^) :
I play with the TrackIR (thanks for the native support, it works like a charm) and all the HUD disappears when you look on side. The 3D design of the HUD is really nice, but I don't understand why to hide it when we look on a side.
Even the "command bar with compass" (on top of the screen) disappears.

Not really a problem, because it doesn't disturb gameplay... but it's just to understand how and why this "feature" for the HUD :)

Keep up the good work, and many thanks for all your work you share with us.
Have you a donation system in place ? (where we can support your work)
...I mean, 30$ for this amazing game is really cheap, also thanks for that too ;)

EDIT: oh, and sorry for my english, I do my best (to write, and to understand all infos I can find here) :)

First, I bookmark your website ! :P (seems to be very usefull)

...and thanks for the welcome :)

In speaking of MP... I've another little question : what is the Remula One please ?
A server I think, but who is hosting it ? Is it persistant ? Is it the only server where EM is played ? ...in fact, how doest it works ?

...and Google (trad) says me you're Turkish

So sorry for you, but you know... we're all citizens of the same world (and now pilots in the same space) :)

"Ykses" is simply the phonetic for "XS" in french.

and... karşılama için teşekkür ederim ;)

I am pretty sure Vice did set up a site to donate money a long time ago. Vice may have taken it down, he is not the kind of person who would take unsolicited money.
As for the server, there is only one atm. It is hosted by a player, runs 24/7, is updated regularly, watched like a hawk and is FREE!
"Remula One" just happens to be the name chosen for the server by the operator. !t's significance eludes even me!
MP is a fun place to go to meet new people. learn skills, tricks & get help. 99% of all players will offer help and not attack you. Sometimes even the server host will greet you & offer help. It is a nice place to visit.
Hope to see you out there...

Even the "command bar with compass" (on top of the screen) disappears.
Primary reasons are indicator distortion, clipping, and unobstructed view. As the gunsight nears the edge of the visible screen, there can be certain distortion effects resulting in less accuracy and overall, its function is lost once it leaves the screen anyway since all non-turret weapons are forward firing. A number of players have indicated that they like an unobstructed view when they turn their head at wide angles. So while hunting around for a target visually, the unneeded/unwanted parts of the HUD are removed to make the screen a bit less obstructed. It used to be quite a bit more narrow, around 16 degrees rather than the current 64 degrees, but was widened to keep the gunsight in view while it was still functionally useful.
Keep up the good work, and many thanks for all your work you share with us.

I'll send some info over via u2u.

And I like it too :)

It was just a question to understand, and your answer is clear (confirming it's not a bug of the display due to my T-IR). I think it's a good choice for the gameplay... and I don't really need the HUD when I turn my head, so the "auto-hide feature" is a good solution to keep a clear view around the ship

And thank you for the U2U ;)

Many thanks (to all) for your welcome !
It's really cool to see a community as active and friendly :)

I only play with my brother for the moment (who is also a sim' fan and old EVE player). We share our experience in game (to learn) and also do some quest together. But I think we will quickly join the Remula One to discover a persistant world for playing, and the community you are

Elsewhere, good job (again and again) around the online part Vice ! It's so simple to create or join game :) ...and it works well.
Also, I like the idea of the unique game save (and character progression) across the online or the single mode. It seems there is really no difference for the pilot between the 2 game modes, that's great :)

Thanks again for the welcome, and see you soon on Remula One server (which is apparently the unique dedicated game server always online, so the better place to find help and fun) ;)

Where is located this server ?... US or EU ?
(no problem to play if you come from EU ?... ping, etc...)

I'm located in Sweden and have no problems what so ever playing on R1.

It's located in the US somewhere.

Catch you out there.

The server is located on the eastern seaboard of the U.S.A. It is fast, reliable and well monitored. There are no problems with connection as far away as New Zealand, Russia, Hawaii or Japan, just to name a few.
We have many players from all over europe with no complaints.
Lag, if any, is usually caused by poor performance of players computer.
Mp is a great place to meet new people and learn new things.
Hope that answers your question.

Oh yes it is :)

I will try MP soon, and I'm happy to know that we can play on a "persistant" dedicated server.

Thanks a lot MMaggio ;)
