What's up with looting?

Post by XinCasa »

Hey Crew. I'm in the process of completing the Harris mining mission which has a side quest of visiting the 3 IMG containers provided for IMG pilots containing weapons & equipment. Coordinates are given for the Glacia system: -70000X, -20000Y, 80000Z. Upon arriving at Glacia system after entering the coordinates in the destination columns of the Nav map I'm launched to -70000X, 20000Y, 80000Z, and there are no containers. The Y coordinate shown in the current location column of the Nav map is not negative! Is the IMF mission Y coordinate of -20000 in error?. If so, why does'nt the containers appear at/near the Nav marker of -70000x, 20000y, 80000k in the Glacia system? Also Note that when I enter -70000X, -20000Y, 80000K in the destination colums of the Nav map. I can't launch due to excessive distance! Can someone help me?

If de distance is to far, hit autopilot (Alt F) instead. If you are in the correct sector, that won't be
necessary. If I remember correctly, I did find containers at the coords given to you. It will
show up on your radar as a purple blip if you are at the right place.

Containers can be on the surface of planets, inside wrecks etc.
If you have problems finding it when you see the purple blip, that is probably the case.

Join MP if this doesn't help and you'll get a lot of help.

Make sure the coordinates are in the right sector. Glacia System consists of many sectors......;)

From post: 105901, Topic: tid=7516, author=Eclipse wrote:First go to the station close to planet Glacia, then go look for the containers.
I figured it out! I was at the designated location all the time, but too high (Y is height!) after I made several launches at a lower height to -20000Y there are still no purple blips. Why do you suggest that I dock at the closest station to the Glacia planet and return Eclipse? Why does it make a difference?

About these containers...

I found these this weekend and felt really dirty as I collected the 100,000 dollar lasers and pawned them off for a quick profit at the nearest space station.

After filling my 5 slot cargo hold and making a couple trips I was banking an average of 500k per trip. Way more than I could make running missions. I felt like this was a lot of money... and it made me feel dirty...

Do later missions offer better profits than stealing from this container? Does 500k per trip just feel like a lot of money to ME because I'm a fledgling mercenary? Or is 500k a lot for anyone?

500k is nothing spectacular. i have seen 1.5 mil credit contracts.
some trade runs bring 20-60 mil. overall 500k is not much at all
most good equipment is in the million credit range
most pilots wealth is in the billions

keep at it

500k wouldn't come near to buying you 1 FT. Now, think of the cost of filling up 8 missile slots with FTs!

Ok good. Now I won't feel so dirty the next time I'm pilfering for pennies in that cargo container.

pilfer - and then you can afford to upgrade ship and equipment and explore and find the real money making trade routes so that you can get the bank roll that lets you really have fun doing what you want to do - explore for new systems, explore known systems for interesting things (rumours of caves in asteroids if you can believe it!) or kick Vonari ass - all without having to break off and make money to buy fuel and reload missiles. :D:D:D:D:D

(all in one breath!! :P:P:P)

welcome to the universe :)

Hey Crew! Is there any way to tractor beam in goodies from destroyed ships, structures or space debris?

buy a mining beam and suck them in - you just might get enough credits back to pay for the fuel and missiles you use :P:P:P:P
