Evochron Mercenary-Thrustmaster TFlight HOTAS X

Post by Bone »

Hi,

I recently discovered this unknown (at least to me) gem of a game and have been enjoying the demo for the past few days in preparation for a purchase.

While the game itself runs silky smooth on my system at max GFX I am having an issue with assigning multiple control axis with the stick/HOTAS combo in the title.

The game recognizes and remembers all my button assignments with no problem and the basic up/down/left/right functions on the stick are ok; however:

-I cannot get the throttle on the HOTAS to handle +- throttle (it does nothing at all)

-I cannot assign roll to the 5th axis on the HOTAS (its a L/R rocker...a really big one)

-I cannot assign function to the stick twist. I'm not sure I want to bother with that as the HOTAS rocker is more comfy to use but would like to get the functionality if needed...especially dealing with Newtonian physics here.

I use the same device for IL-2 (heavily) and a couple other flight sims with no issue and wonder if I am doing something incorrect.

Anyway...I would like to get this resolved so I can go ahead and order the full key.

Actually on that note...since I downloaded the latest build direct from this site can I just register at Impulse and purchase the license via credit card without further download or am I limited to messing about with Paypal?

Cheers in advance for answers.

-Bone

**ooops forgot system specs (if needed):

WINXP Pro SP3
Core Duo 2 E4400@2Gb
2Gb RAM
GeForce GT 430 1Gb

Does the twist axis on the stick not return a signal on any of the channels in the game? For the other two options, are you selecting the HOTAS device using the arrows at the top of the configure controls menu? It will likely be device 2 or 3.

You can order through Impulse and use the same registration values to convert the direct download installer into the full game. You can also use a credit card with PayPal without an account with them. Or you can also order direct through ShareIt via credit card. The direct options e-mail you the needed registration details.

Hi and thanks for the quick response.

The twist axis returns signal just fine in the configure control segment. It just seems to do nothing in game.

The throttle and roll functions also return signal as above..just no effect in the actual game.

I did miss the arrows though when running through setup. I will give it another go in the morning and see if that sorts it and will advise.

Cheers

Did you complete the axis binding procedure in the game to map those axis channels?

Good morning,

Going through the control test/assignment via the initial start screen yielded the same results as detailed above. All 5 axis assigned but no joy beyond basic L/R/U/D.

Ahhhh...but prior to exiting the game to send this message I saw an ingame config screen and gave that a shot.

Great success as all 5 axis across the stick/HOTAS now work as expected.

Perhaps the binding from the initial "Control" just is not saving properly?

Also...FYI the config manager sees my stick/HOTAS only as device 1 which is to be expected as while capable of separation physically the device uses the same single USB port for all functionality . For future reference this is the device:

Anyway....seems sorted and I'm well pleased. Cheers for the impressively rapid response as I understand you (Vice) are the one-man band dev team.

I'll will purchase the sim today. Between you and folks like the husband/wife team behind Mount & Blade PC sandbox gaming has never been so good. And this from a 4.5 year EvE-online veteran and 20+ years of PC sims and general gaming .

Cheers

Hello Bone.

Welcome to a great sim and community.
You are totally right. You will not find any better sim/support anywhere.:P

Hope to see ya online. Lots of fun there and there is also a lot of helpful pilots out there.
They (including me) will drop anything they're up to, to help fellow pilots in need.;)

Thank you.

Key purchased.

Once I get a bit more comfortable with the environment I'll jump into the online version. Now with my flight controls fully off the keyboard the sim is quite intuitive from a flight perspective...although when I went to fly an IL-2 mission I managed to lawn dart right into the ground after forgetting which physics were involved and tried to side slip past an He-111!

Again cheers for the support.

LOL. Try doing an ILS approach in FSX in IMC conditions.
Correction with "strafing" didn't work well at all. I missed the airport completely and drilled a deep hole!:P

Yeah I'm big into FSX and even fly a couple times monthly for a virtual airline.

I'd love to get DCS A-10 (cause I love moving mud) but I don't think my PC would handle it.....ditto DCS Black Shark....and lack of a dynamic campaign puts me off as well.

But thats a discussion for elsewhere.

I got the DCS Black Shark. Very complex piece of work. Haven't got the time to get into it yet due to EM poisoning!:D
