Hello everyone ! 5 days left before Mercenary, It's hard to wait !

A little evolution idea for Evochron : The sparce bar, a place where we can hear rumors or bet on races. It's always nice to take a drink in a space station. Space is a very dry place. :)

It would ben cool if we could go to a bar in every cities and space stations. This place could be very usefull. We could for example buy a drink that give us a rumour like "space station on system xxx is the best place to sell your goods", "I heared about an unknown planet in coordinates xxx" etc.

LOL.....I do not drink alcoholic beverages(poison to the brain) and relativley do not gamble...but your idea of a meeting place where you can pickup clues or info is a good one. They had something similar in Freelancer but you had to bribe some one to get the info.....;):P:P:P:P:P:P

But you also can drink a cafe in a bar :D

Of course, the bar shouldn't tell us everything, othewise the game would be to easy. But I think if we have to pay a dring to have only a certain chance to win a good information it can be fun. :)

In Freelancer's bars there also is newsflashs. I just reinstall Freelancer to help me waiting for Mercenary. This old game have a lot of qualities... and a lot of defects to.

I'll sell info for 20,000,000* a go. Anything less isn't worth it, and if you can't afford that much then you haven't played enough to need secret locations yet!

I am liking what I hear of EM though. Sounds like since there is no .txt file with locations it could be a year before certain places are discovered. The deployable stations in mp add even more things to discover and reason to go explore. Would be cool if the stats noted what % of planets, stations, moons and systems you visit - then you would know when you'd found everything and become a true 'Legend'. :D

*may be more, depending on the info. Conditions apply.

It's not that I need secret locations but I am a born explorer (only in video games, in real life, exploring my house is well sufficient to me :D ). Besides, coordinates are not the only informations we could get in a bar. We could have informations about trading (best prices to buy or sell), about presence of transporters with precious goods (for piracy). I'll find more ideas next friday when I'll finaly can play the game :)

Yeah, I know, I think it's a good idea. What I was getting at is that it is already somewhat possible by trading with real pilots. I'd really like to see trade (of secrets/goods/money) between players becomming more common and worthwhile.

Hehe, well there is a 'lobby' mode in Mercenary at stations, cities, and carriers. So you could meet other players in that lobby mode say at a station, then arrange an offer to pay another player for such info. Although 20-million might be a bit steep, depending on the info :)

LOL.....The difference is that love does not damage brain cells permanently.....Love just alters your state of mind, could be in a positive way or in a negative way but the negative way ussualy causes you a heart ache.......;):P

Finding hidden planets in Mercenary can be easier than finding them in Legends. Some planets can be seen from over 20 sectors away, and I've heard that some can be seen from close to 100 sectors away (though this latter bit could be misinformation!)
-The race is not to the swift,
or the battle to the strong,
nor does food come to the wise,
or wealth to the brilliant
or favor to the learned;
but time and chance happen to them all...

...For death is the destiny of every man;
the living should take this to heart...

Does this mean that your "map" has longer range than in EL, if I recall EL correct it was like 15x15 sectors fully zoomed out!

Probably not, as this would make things a bit too easy.

You can normally see stellar phenoma from quite a bit away - nebulae, suns and planets were always visible from quite a few sectors away. I merely assume that with the new and improved engine, those things can be seen from quite a (stellar) distance.

So, I guess a few of us will go stargazing in the truest sense of the word.

P.S.: Then again, a 200x200 sector map does sound awfully nice to have.
The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe.
If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.
