You certainly can, using the same custom font options detailed in the kit. However, not all fonts will likely scale or align as needed for those displays, so it would take some expirementing with the fonts you like.

Woops, I meant the instructions. Here's the section from the ReadMe:
- To customize the font used in the game, create a text file in the game's folder with the filename setfont.txt and in the first line, enter the name of the font you want to use. In the second line, enter the size of the font. In the third line, enter a value of either 0 or 1 to use normal text or bold text. In the fourth line, enter the character set you want to use for different languages (default value is 1). The font needs to be installed on your system and be compatible with the game's text system. If the game is unable to use the indicated font, it will default to a standard font.

Thanks, Vice.
I'm still having some trouble. I have tried a couple of fonts and it doesn't like them, although it did change from bold to regular (which I think I like better). Here is the text of the file. Maybe you can see something wrong with it.

Make sure whatever font name you apply matches what is listed as the font name (not the font filename), including any capital letters. Do not include the ttf extension, only the name of the font.

Thanks again, Vice. That was the issue. I tried a vector font that I found and an OCR font that I liked. I actually thought I'd like OCR better, but when viewed in the game, I think I like the vector font better. Here are the results:
Vector Battle
Definitely re-awakens an ancient videogame nostalgia in me.
ocr10
This font looks good in the HUD, but not so good in the MFD for some reason. The MFD thickens the font to some degree, but they're linear sharp in the HUD.

Doesn't it, though?
I found the font here: http://www.abstractfonts.com/category/45-36/Monospaced
It's free for home use, but requires a donation for commercial use.
