X-wing sound conversion pack

I was going over the sound files this evening for my old XvT and XWA games, and was thinking it might be cool to create a sound conversion pack for nostalgia's sake that would take the sounds from those games and apply them appropriately to EL. Firstly, I want to make sure that something like that would be legal to distribute to people who don't own the games, but secondly, I want to see if there is any interest...so let me know.

Does anyone know how is the sound "warn2" is applied in the game?

Definitely not legal, you can't distribute sounds ripped from a game to people without written permission from the copyright holder.
