Textchat.dat file for legends 1.108

Post by 49rTbird »

I am trying to change the color of my chat from the grey look now to a reddish. I put a chattext.dat file in my HUD folder. It has the 11 lines but the color won't change. Is it the first three? red, green, blue at 0-225 values? Or is this an old way to change the colors?

Got it. I had first created a file chattext.dat and it showed as a txt file in my HUD. I created a new one in notpad and when I saved it as a .dat file it shows in my Hud as a "Video CD Movie and works fine when I change the numbers now. :o:)

You mean the non-working file was called chattext.dat.txt. Always be careful when saving non-txt notepad files to save as 'All files (*.*)' instead of as 'text file (*.txt)'.

first thing a do with windows is go to folder options and unselect "hide file type for known files" - in the words of yoda "Only pain will you find there"

I once spent a week with an issue on the renegades dedicated server when developing the first verbsleagues pages because of this :o

Best regards
