Auroras

I see auroras fairly often but never tried to track if they have a cycle or not, until now. It seems like they do in fact have a cycle - is it planet rotation dependent?

Their motion/movement is cyclical in a fragmented pattern, but their randomized positioning is fairly fixed (as though the magnetic bands they are linked to retain their shape). I guess that's the long way of answering, no, it is not rotation dependent (beyond the synchronized timing mechanisms used for rotations that they share for pacing anyway).

Ok got it, they have a pattern of their own synchronized to to game timer, which also tracks other effects such as planet rotation.
