What confuses me is that, from your screen shots, it looks like you already have the distance between stars plotted correctly. What is it you need to do? Convert the sectors to AUs or parsecs or light years or something of that nature? If so, then you might want to head down to the Sol system to get an idea as to the range (in sectors and sub-sectors) between the Sun and Earth.

I have started with a spreadsheet.
Could you please let me know exactly what you need in it.
- Distance between sectors. (In KM and AU)?
- Distance between coordinates within a sector. (In KM and AU)?
And what else you might need.
Cheers, SeeJay

If I recall correctly from previous discussions somewhere, the in sector corrdinate unit is DecaMeter!?!
1 sector is 200 000 DM = 2 000 000 M = 2000 KM. (Sounds a bit small to me tho).
According to this site: http://www.convertunits.com/from/0+AU/to/kilometers
1 M = 6.68458712267E-12 AU
2 000 KM = 0.00001336917424534 AU (= Center to center of 2 sectors next to eachother)
So 1000 sectors would be equal to 0.01336917424534 AU.
Does this make any sence?

Yep - but it would put Earth 100 000 sectors from the Sun!

Yup, what Dave said. Either that or the Earth in the Evoverse isn't the same Earth as the one we live on. Nor is the solar system the same. Which would explain why Sirius is closer to Earth than Alpha Centauri. Or why JJ's Spock was so much more volatile than the Spock of TOS ... alternate realities!

I'm still going to see how it behaves as a static, upgradable 3D map of the core systems showing the new 'well out of plane' uncharted systems which will have to be manually added as they are discovered.
Pity it can't be interactive and pick up info from the game, but if I can get it to pick up data from SeeJay's data base it might be a cool addition to the instrument kit on the second monitor
