I remember a lot of us thinking about flying capital ships , now this game is in alpha so there's sure to be more to it , but right now its mostly centered around building and crashing ( stuff gets smashed bent and destroyed beautifully ) . I've put about 4 hours in and arent half done with my cruiser , the physics are really solid , inertia dampeners on and off kind of stuff so far , really spot on . I strongly suggest it ( there are fighters , or small ships too ) i do get some motion sickness . First game to ever do that to me so be warned , it seems to come and go . Once multiplayer comes out for it i hope to see some of you guys there , i even heard evochron mentioned on their forums page as where most of the players have come from , in the mean time good to be back lots to say not much time

A link :)

demo vid - warning: get to the gym - it seems you have to jog everywhere :P

A bit of info . . .

Space Engineers is in its alpha stage of development and is available on Steam Early Access.Space Engineers is a sandbox game about engineering, construction and maintenance of space works. Players build space ships and space stations of various sizes and utilization (civil and military), pilot ships and perform asteroid mining. Space Engineers utilizes a realistic volumetric-based physics engine: all objects can be assembled, disassembled, damaged and destroyed.

. . . interesting!

I'm sorry to say I bought it awhile back but not impressed as I just don't seem to have an engineering type mind. Maybe it will improve with age (my mind that is) (lol).:)

I like the look of this one. Looks like Garry's Mod in space. Think I may have to treat myself :-)

Well, I must say I am really enjoying this game so far. Rather than repeat myself, here is a link to a forum post I made regarding my first impressions:

I cannot wait for multiplayer :)

From what I have seen so far, there are no planets of any kind - *yet*. Only asteroids. Planets are something that will be added at a later date, according to their forums.

What is really odd (to me at least) is that they charge you 13,99 euro for a game that isn't even finished????
What's that about?

It sounds like it's a Beta testing thing that they want people to pay for.

I'll wait until (if it ever will be) a finished game with features that I like.

Looks promising tho.

The game is in Alpha, apparently. Seems to be a growing trend with games these days to release them to the public unfinished and get their customers to test them.

KSP was released in a similar fashion - and look how brilliant that game is becoming!

Regardless, it is really good fun and is shaping up to be something truly brilliant. I recommend you give it a go if you can.

I do like the look of it but since it's far from finished, I will not pay anything until the features I want is in there.
Suddenly devs stop what they are working on and there you are with a half finished paid for game!!

That's why I won't pay anything for Star Citizen either until they actually have a game to sell.

Fair enough, I can sympathise with that.

I have already spent about 23 hours playing it though, so even if the game self-destructs today, I would say I have still got my monies worth... and that's in a game that is in early stages. I can see me losing many-an-hour in this one :)

Sometimes you have to take a step back and look at it this way:

How much does a cinema ticket cost? £10? And you get about 2 hours of entertainment. How much does this game cost? £12 and I have already got about 23 hours worth of entertainment... with many more to follow. That's a sound investment in my book.

I hear ya mate and that is true. You will get your money worth if it has what you want.

I want MP to work and also stuff to do beside building my ships etc. As it is now, nothing of that is in place, or so it seams anyway.
I'll keep my eyes on it and will get it if / when it reaches the level I can accept as a full game.

Indeed! I really hope multiplayer comes sooner rather than later. I will keep you posted as to the development of this, if you are interested.

Sure thing. Please do. The concept is really cool and if exploring, fighting etc is available
then it will be awesome
