Firefly/Serenity

Post by Pariah »

Any Firefly/Serenity fans here? I am a big fan and just wondered if anyone else is into the show/movie.

I downloaded the Evo. companion prog. and Doga last night and my first thought was to make a Firefly class transport for Evochron. I realized that I'd need metasequoia to make the shapes I will need, but after a couple of hours with it I see that I will need more practice lol. Anyway, say hello if you are into the series or film :).

I didn't really know much about the series until I saw the movie and then learned more about it. Now I wish I had seen the shows when they were being shown on Sci-Fi :) The final battle sequence between the Alliance and Reaver's was quite good and I enjoyed the mix of freelancing and adventure the movie presented. Good story telling, very original, and an excellent use of digital effects to go along with the story.

Well, once, Al told that he really liked them so in the name of Al (Alg on the forums):

Hello!

Hope his PC gets fixed quickly... starting to miss him lol :)

Exactly. Too many sci-fi shows and films are fx pieces with "some characters" in them. Firefly/Serenity are character films with "some fx" in them. The storytelling is key. I also think that the Anglo/Sino mixture that creates the setting for the 'verse is sort of refreshing.

On the topic of the Alliance/Reaver battle at the end, that shot where Serenity comes out of the gas cloud and is targeted by the alliance cruisers, and then moments later the Reaver armada literally explodes into the shot behind them was insane. I must have watched that half a dozen times when I got the DVD.

Anyway, nice to hear from some other fans :).

I don't know if there is any interest but there is a Firefly/Serenity fan board that I post on. It was hosted by Universal Pictures until about 2 weeks ago, it is now privately operated. The group is called the "Browncoats" after the group who lost the war to the Alliance in the show/movie.

It's mostly fan fluff and organized spam, but there are a few cool threads that keep up on the 'verse. I post as kalimnyak.

Been a fan since wayback when it was first aired.

Biggest draw for me is the fact the series/film(s)(???!!!) are about regular folk.

Every now and again I throw a disk in and watch... .

Like Peter Sellers said in "Being There":

"I like to watch..."
