i've noticed the beams as well , i think they would clip with any ship no matter what, especialy when shooting at an extreme angle.
Thanks for starting or planning on making this ima love it.

Viper, you could add a couple "pimples" to the mesh to act as beam generators. It might not be cannon but ... well, close enough for a cigar. From post: 151067, Topic: tid=10069, author=Viper wrote:The particle guns effects do indeed appear somewhat in front of the ship. maybe something like the barrel of this gun running the length of the wing next to the "partical cannon" -http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Gauss_rifle_(Fallout_3) i dont know how to link pictures but this should be enough

Unfortunately that's not really an option if you want to do a half-decent job. Adding the barrels would not be the hardest thing to do, but you would have to redo the UV map and texture as well if you wanted to give the barrels a realistic appearance. If you wouldn't do that, the existing texture would wrap around the barrels in a very awkward way, and it would look really sloppy. From post: 151077, Topic: tid=10069, author=Marvin wrote:Viper, you could add a couple "pimples" to the mesh to act as beam generators. Second, you would still have and see the original barrels on the front end of the struts, still not doing anything if you were in 3d person view.
Third, it wouldn't make a difference in cockpit view at all, since the game doesn't use the ship mesh for that, but only the cockpit mesh.
Besides all that, adding the struts to the cockpit mesh would not be much more work than that, and yield a much better result.
So sorry but no, that's not an option for me. I certainly don't consider myself a very great designer but that would just be to sloppy.

In all fairness to Viper, as well as giving credit where due and earned - here's my SX3 Avenger mod presentation:
P.S.: Marv, I think I got it figured...finally.

Great work sir B! Are you using the SX3 for the civilian Avenger frame? Then I'm curious, how did you manage to hide all the secondary components? Because that my friend is looking good!

Sir V, I am using the SX3 mod files you've posted, in both the Avenger mil frame slot, and in that of the Legacy frame on the civ side. For the mil frame "conversion", 'twas a relatively simple task of just re-nameing mil frame 25 to mil frame 28, in/on ALL the specific files as posted/provided. The hiding of anything was not required; was rather a painless/seamless conversion-mod to acomplish. For the Legacy frame conversion, I paid particular attention to the guidance of the Mercs Custom Kit, as well as having followed many modding discussions here in-4um. Again, 'twas a mere moment or two of file-name morphing and.... Voila! I have new ship! I do like the specular "skin" I've arrived at in the civ frame lash-up. Kinda gives it a space black-n-blue cammouflage pattern. In my original screenie, I think that I left wing set 4 a bit more exposed than the iteration I'm currently flying. I've also moved and reduced to almost non-existant engine set 10 so that it's not so immediately observeable. Shield set 10, fuel pod set 2, and cargo bay set 5 were not all that difficult to conceal or hide-in-plain-sight. The mod has been working famously for me! No problems encountered, but sometimes....it looks like I'm fighting myself when up against an AI antagonista!

All we need now is someone to mod the Vonari ships to either Geth or Reaper, and to mod the Jump gates into Mass relays

Hi Marvin,
The link to the Mods page is fine, but when I go to the ship mod itself, it takes me to the ship thread and in the first post, when I click to download either the red or blue ship, I get an Error, access permission denied message where the .rar file is located for download.
Should I be trying to download from somewhere else in the thread or...?

Maybe you need to register with Rapid Share. It is free of charge. From post: 159680, Topic: tid=10069, author=DORN wrote:Hi Marvin,

I get the same error message and I do not have a Rapid Share account. So I do not really know if an account is required for Rapid Share downloads!.....

It probably won't do much good. The only reliable links are those belonging to Starwraith and people who still frequent the forum. Most notably, SeeJay. Other links often belong to public hosts and those hosts are apt to purge old or unused programs from their files. If SeeJay doesn't have what you need, then try sending a U2U to the modder.

Viper is out of action for a while. He's agreed that I'm going to maintain his thread. I've asked if he can send me the files so I can ask SeeJay to host them. The transfer will take a little while. I'll post an update as soon as I can.

Hi
Until I get the thread sorted, try these . . .
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?c1l6l5xkiqup092
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?b6dg8x5k492wcg1
They are the SX pair - I'll see if I can track the others down

Yep, those two are the correct ones that Viper crafted. And, those two are the only frames that he's accomplished, at least to my knowledge. The others, earlier in this thread, had too many polygonal structures to be easily converted and useful in Mercs II, as Viper had explained. I had thought that SeeJay might have had the SX3's posted on one of his sites, but apparently not. Thanks Dave!
