Chat read out
Couldn't find anything about this in the forum. So my question: Is it possible to get a read out of the chat text so you can read it into another program?

Not given this a thought before but it could be very useful if Vice can add it to the savedata.txt output in some way. There are time on a quest for example when it could be useful too have a record of the quest steps. I guess it could be useful if a team are doing something or when I'm doing research and occasionally use the chat stream as a sequence marker/crude timer/a record.

Yeah. And it would be great if the format of the chat read out file is:
timestamp [tab] category [tab] line of chat text
where category is a unique number representing on of
distress call
quest message
trade related message
crew related message
hangar fee
trading fee
crew wage
message from/to other pilots
contract message
...
Timestamp could be system time, but in game time would be better, I think.

If you don't need the information in real time, you can probably get a copy of the chat log from the server owner.

If he were to add it I hope he does it to it's own unique text file. From post: 176755, Topic: tid=11910, author=DaveK wrote:Not given this a thought before but it could be very useful if Vice can add it to the savedata.txt output in some way. Chat logs can grow pretty big pretty fast.
If it's a unique file - say chat.txt - then one can always go in and delete it at any time to clear it.
