Confused about IMG Quest 8

In the quest, I am supposed to protect a capital ship until it reaches its waypoint. There are supposed to be 4 enemy fighters. I went to the waypoint and destroyed the 4 fighters with the capital ship unharmed. I noticed a timer for the quest. So I thought after destroying the enemy fighters, I could just wait out the timer and I would complete the quest. But after the timer ran out, I failed the mission. What exactly am I supposed to do here?

Edit: Ugh, I don't know what happened, but this time the ship jump drived away and I completed the quest. I don't know why it didn't jump drive away last time. Maybe I messed up some other part of the quest. Sorry for the useless thread. Please delete it if possible.

We usually keep posts like this ... as a reminder to everyone that strange things can happen in the Evoverse. But, when they do, there's usually a good reason. In your situation, the first question is: Did you do the contract in single-player or multiplayer?
