A Couple of Questions Lumped Together.....

Post by joker1231978 »

I'm finally getting used to combat. I can handle 3-4 ships at a time. It takes me a few, but I can survive. I'm getting there though. I'm working on money atm. That Port Oasis run is quite helpful :)

Here's some of the things on my mind:
1 - Can you permanently change the default speed your ship is set at when you are finished jumping via autopilot? It's just really annoying to have it set at 548.

2 - Is there a way to permanently set your view/hud? Every time I dock it changes. The hud isn't as much as an issue as my view. I like playing in 3rd person because it gives me a better pov of my surroundings.

3 - Lastly, I'm kinda looking for ideas for a frame layout geared more towards my style of play. I like combat, but 3-4 fighters per mission is about far as I'd like to go right now. I'm more of a multi-role type player. Some fighting, mining, and standard contract stuff (at least for the moment anyway). Anyone have any templates/equipment loadouts that they would like to share?

1. Your speed coming out of the jump is brought down to whatever speed you had it set to going in, assuming you leave IDS on. If you want it to be different, just go slower prior to the jump. You can jump from a dead stop if you want. Autopilot makes you move full speed, which can't be altered.

2. Shrug.

3. Depending on what frame you're using, loadout is largely irrelevant if you're a good pilot. I like to fly around with maxed out shields and cargo while balancing the rest. Easy enough to vape small groups while keeping a mining loadout.

Thanks for the reply! :)

About question #1: A single jump does exactly what you said. Multi-jumps via autopilot is where it slows down between jumps to 548, at least for me, and why that final jump is always 548 unless I intervene. I normally just kick off the autopilot and hit the thrusters immediately at my destination, but I was hoping there was some weird option I missed somewhere lol. I have been popped with a missile or two between jumps, but I think they were just bad luck lol. It's probably hard coded though....

 Better engines will increase your coasting speed. And setting your energy to +5 will decrease the length of time between jumps.

All ships leave a jump at approximately what IDS x2 is for that particular frame/engine config. Set IDS to x2 - numpad 7 and 9 to adjust the multiplier and you will not decrease your speed to the IDS x1 setting used by the autopilot default.

Err.. correction autopilot will always default to IDS x1 during multi-jumps. Spacebar to turn IDS off while long range autopiloting.

For single jumps what I said above is correct.:)
