Good ways of making money?

Post by Exile »

So far I've just been mining. I've upgraded my cargo bay to full capacity and bring in somewhere between a hundred to two hundred and fifty thousand credits every run.

I've accumulated a good amount of money in a short period of time, but I see people who are spending money in way of stations and fulcrum torps that suggests there are better ways of making a large sum of money or to have some form of continuous large income in the million credits range.

Am I missing something?

Might be a bit of a spoiler, so I'll post this a little further down (just a few of the available options):

- Mining in particular locations can be faster and more profitable. Hiring a certain crew member can also accelerate the recovery rate.

- Consider trading other items (ie weapons and equipment) rather than only commodities, when the opportunities become available.

Thanks Vice.

I have noticed the former of your suggestions.

I've been travelling to more "dangerous" places, but they are definitely more profitable in terms of yield for my ore runs.

I haven't really delved into trafficking commodities or items yet. I'm not quite sure about how the market system works.

Are green systems places to buy stuff cheaply and sell to red systems? Or are red systems the place to buy cheap things to sell to green systems?

There are a few criteria to consider for trade runs:

1 - You generally want to buy in red and yellow systems, then sell in blue-green systems.

2 - Watch for economy types displayed with a letter after the local planet's name on the nav map. Certain economies will pay a lot more or a lot less for items, which you can use for your profit advantage.

Also, in case you haven't run into the option yet, you can use your cargo bays as additional storage mounts for weapons and equipment items, just right click on the item from the 'items for sale' list instead of left clicking on them.
