Altitude above the planet

Post by Cheri50000 »

Hi, guys!

I wanted to ask you, in the game, the altitude readout in the cockpit and on the HUD is in feet or meters, like for example, when altitude readout in the cockpit and on the HUD shows 400,000 it means 400,000 feet or 400,000 meters above the planet's surface? Thanks!

Cheers,
Vincent

 I could never convince myself that Earth measurements carry over into the Evoverse.

Altitude above the planet

hehe

according to nasa space starts in a height of 80km from earth. 50 miles. there seems to be no mandatory universal height.
ionosphere though goes up to 300km+(?)

for now i am with marvin and would call it klicks. or chronits.

i ran some numbers on my unit converter guessed a bit and i think the altitude is measured in feet. 400k dekameter seems a bit to high

as for clicks, its an us military name for kilometer.

I think the units in the game for planet altitude is in meters and is not so much relatively related to the real relative reality!....;):P:cool:

The altitude readings in both locations on your HUD, are expressed in meters. "Entering" planetary atmosphere at 500000 mtrs, AGL, you'll get the gravity well/forward speed warning. At about 162500 - 160000 mtrs, AGL, your flight controls flip over to atmospheric control. And at about 132000 mtrs, AGL, the guide beacon on the city landing platform starts pulsing, again. Now, having said that, the game vs relative reality? Maars takes the pennant!

BTW, the US Army has been using "clicks" (kilometers) as a unit of measurement for quite some time. At least since 1972, in my recollection, 'cause that's when I first entered service. :)

It all depends in what direction and relative reality the pennant waves!.....;):P:P:P:P:P
