Holy massive missiles Batman!

Post by Alaric »

Workin on my military rank atm. Going well but OMG whats with the missiles. I swear I get pelted with all of em so I got some questions about missiles:
1. Does the comp ships ever run out of them? I thought they did but the missiles just keep coming.
2. I love the fact that immersion is key in this game. One thing I noticed tho is that when I arrive on the scene, not one missile goes at the navy ships fighting there, i get em all. Now I know I'm a badass merc and all but should't the comp get some missile love? Especially when Im runn...I mean tactically retreating away and the Navy just shoots away but doesn't take any missile fire..
3. How could no one love the Excalibur. OMG watching a ship take 8 missiles is hilarious! then after it blows up they keep searching targets. Sweetness. Well I guess that wasn't a question per se but they still rock.

Fun tip for other nubs like meself, if you cruise on the same side a BS is shooting another BS and dump all 8 ex missiles at it the sucker blows up much easier. ;) killed SO MANY BS's its like they dont matter lol.

If you consider each enemy ship can hold up to 8 missiles then if you're facing 10 at once that's 80 between them, if you were fighting them for an hour that's still over a missile a minute...they do run out. Switch your energy to weapons to shoot down the incomming missiles and try and pick off one ship at a time (each one you take down means less incomming missiles i.e. it gets easier). Capital ships seem to have infinate missiles so wait 'til you've taken out any fighters before attacking them.

Ahhh, come on guys! Where's the love? I don't know about you, but I've never felt so popular! I mean, having eight incoming at the same time just tells me how much I'm loved. :P And it's good precision training to boot!

yeah i mentioned exactly that in things i'd like to change in future versions. The fact that enemies pretty much 99.9% of the time only focus on you. It DOES take away from the immersion factor. What should be a nice full scale space battle (cause there defintiely can be LOTS of ships on the screen at the same time,_ just becomes you against everyone else with the friendly ships sometimes firing a missile or two at your enemies who keep on completely ignoring them. It's kinda for this reason that i have actually kinda overdosed on combat. I haven't fought anything in like 5 days.

Well it's like a ritual you know. You can't say that you are a combat pilot in Evochron until you tasted some missiles feast from 36 buddies against you (not so "allies" included). What a happy day it was.

**stops scrubbing the bullseyes off his ship to chime in** Im with Raynor, it does seem a bit one sided but Im imagining the scripting would be a headache for vice to change (thats my entire extent of computer knowledge there :P) and Im sure some intrepid pilot would find a way to abuse it (I was a DM for 10 years, if theres a way to break a game the players will find it) and break the game. Ill take the missiles, I just thought it was funny. On the upside I can shoot missilies down without thinking of it.

2. Indeed. I'm new to the game and it appears everyone else in the universe just wants to target you. I agree, I feel a lack of immersion because of this. I think it would be sweet in the future of this game if you could watch AI factions fight and resolve. With or without being in a instance. In turn would definably contribute to the story.

3. The Excalibur is devastating to say the least. But I found waiting 3 mins to reload makes for boring game play flying in circles waiting for a reload. Does have an advantage if your going up verse a fleet of 3 or more.

I find the Leech EMP and any other missle to work best for me. Drop shields then hit their hull. Usually I can get a kill with just one of each and a single pass. Anything like a destroyer is eating a nuke.

Im starting to think that Im not fighting properly...I never really use missiles, just my guns. I kill a guy per pass and the 3 mins fly by..hah get it..and i dont even use the excalibur on the pissant little ships. My killy missions go as follows:

cruise by the mob and coast in fronta the battleship
unload everthing into the battleship on one pass
turn around and excalibur the BS. It goes boom.
Focus on pissants and bam, bobs yer uncle

Im hoping the Cerulean Warzone gets harder as this fromula only fails once and a while.

No no, Bob's my stepdad. I thought this thread was going to be about fulcrum torpedoes, but alas...

Alaric your strategy sounds a lot like mine when it comes to battleships. I always make my first pass in inertial mode and let the big guy have it, then turn around and unload missiles into it.

Word.
Spaceships! Pew pew pew!
