Station Hangar fees possible bug

Post by Trig »

Hi, I seem to be paying hangar fees on a station that does not exist.

I've checked the sector that is says it's in in every server that's up on MP (with the exception of EU_NL, I'm unable to join that one) as well as on single player, there are no stations there.

The station name is Starport 80828264 and it's in sector -403.0.2362, according to the text that pops up when it deducts the 270k hangar fee.

As far as I can remember I haven't built a station there (on any server or SP) and certainly didn't store anything there. I first noticed it deducting the hangar fee after the 1.828 update, but only just now got around to flying out and checking it out. The cash isn't a real big deal, but I'd like to know what I have stored in this station.

As I type this I'm flying out with a build constructor and station det to build one with that exact name in that sector and then blowing it up (after checking the hangar) to see if this will clear the hangar fee.

Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas on how to clear the hangar fee?

Thanks

Greeting Trig and welcome to the Forum!

That does sound a bit weird. Maybe you had visited once and then forgot about it after a late night charade? Your plan sounds solid, and I hope you manage to clear out the issue.

Good Hunting!

Station Hangar fees possible bug

Update, I've built a station in that sector with that name, in both single player and USA - NC server (the one I usually use now), checked the hangar to find it empty, then destroyed the station.
The next hangar fee cycle came up the same, paying for StarPort 80828264 and Command Alpha in TWZ, which is where I left my auto cm and heatsink (to make room for constructor and tractor beam) but the hangar fee text said both Command Alpha and StarPort 80828264 are in the same sector (which is impossible), that sector being -403.0.2363. The bug appears to be in the chat text from the hangar fee notification showing the incorrect sector for the station that I'm paying fees on.

I've checked the two nearby star systems to -403.0.2683 (well west of TWZ) and found no stations near any of the planets, so I'm not sure why its reporting that sector as where Command Alpha (of talison warzone) as well as StarPort80828263 are located.

If anyone happens to notice the station named StarPort 80828263 if you could let me know what sector is in it would be a big help.
Thanks

I'm not certain how Vice set up the trade stations for auto-naming (whenever you don't provide a name of your own while building a station). But if you've ever stored something at a station and then that station was destroyed, it might be possible that a station with the same number was built elsewhere. Or built for the first time on a different server. Assuming, of course, that fees are linked to a specific station name and not to anything else.

OR...

perhaps you stored an item on another server that is no longer available and your data file is still showing as loaded at that station. Conundrum indeed.

Un-named player staions will have an 8 digit starport number. In game stations will only have 4 digits. The station mentioned is definitely a built station.

Yes, the Station in question is defenitely a player build Station. Also if that Station could have been destroyed by a Station Detonator by another player or by the player who build it!

I think I might have build that station and then destroyed it but I'm not sure. As I remember I forgot to name it and it gave me a Starport with an 8 digit number ending in 264 which I did not like and I either destroyed it or it was on the USS Server no longer up!......;)

The only way to solve it is to send an e-mail to Vice with the pilot profile attached and have Vice fix the pilot profile!.....;)
